NOTE MY EDIT ABOVE!!!!!!
You have to turn the rear springs CLOCKWISE (From Above) as far as possible in the perches to seat them correctly.
I just went out and looked, and had to post Immediately.
Sorry for any confusion.
The idea is to turn it 'til the ends of the springs can't turn any further in the perches.
