Just like with many other things, all engines are not created equal. It seems that the Zetec can tolerate not having a dampener as there are hundreds of people using them with only a handful of failures that blame the pulley without evidence to back it up. This in no way means that we can guarantee that you will not have any problems.

Cool thanks, I'm just a little paranoid since my Focus is my only car right now. I've never seen any proof that a underdrive pulley did anything harmful, just wanted some feedback from somebody knowledgable on the subject.
