In that case, we should stick with the stock 3057 as stated in the manual, not the 3157. Both the 3157 and 3357 have 8 watt tail lamps. The 3057 has a 7 watt tail lamp.

Thanks for sharing though. I'll definately check the tempreture (by touching ), after the lights have been on a while, before deciding whether to 'upgrade'. The wattage is around 10% more, so it's kind of strange. The max ambient temp. in Houston is around 40 degrees celsius (metric ), and surely that would keep the casing temp with 8 watt bulbs less than what would be reached in say 50 degrees with 7 watt bulbs, which is possible in some places.

On the other hand, if you keep your foot on the brake, the power would be more than 4 times greater than this. Fortunately I have a manual and use the parking/hand/e/whatever brake at stoplights .
