At usual mechanics prices that's 8 to 10 hours worth of work, since you've already got the parts, it seems very high to me.

I would think if you were making the change alone, on jack-stands, while drinking beer, and stopping to answer the phone, change the radio, etc. it should take significantly less time than that.

They've got all the tools, and a lift... if I had that, I think it would be done in 3 hours (maybe 4, with the beer and stuff).
