So, I decided to do something since I'm always so worried about hydro-lock. Before the SRI, my air filter sat right in front of my drive tire, pretty much directly in the way of rain and water. So, with the help of a saw and a little thought process, I turned my ebay CAI into a custom SRI.
Materials.
- Stock MAF tube
- One rubber connector thingy, two clamps
- Duct-tape

- Piece of bent tubing, I don't know the angle or anything.
Basically, I clamped the MAF to the throttle body with the rubber connector. After I clamped this, I took the bent tubing, with the air filter connected to it, and fit it right around the end of the MAF. In my case, it was a good snug fit, and didn't require any clamping. However, I did duct-tape it completley just to fasten it and make sure no air escaped. This process left the air filter snug between the battery hold-down, and the headlight area. Which is nice, because the only way I'll hydro-lock my car is if I happen to drive into the ocean, in which case I'll have a few more problems then hydro-lock.
Note: MAF is direction-sensitive. Small opening towards throttle-body, large opening towards air filter. If placed wrong way, car will constantly stall out, or will sputter when pressing the gas pedal.
Pictures to come tommorow afternoon.
