Once again my checks to the tune of over $6,600.00 did not fail... Dudes, we paid you to fix the piece of junk, we trusted you to do so in a reasonable time frame per our emails! You got the car the on 04/13/07 on 06/16/07 the build was complete but you informed us of piston damage on cylinder 3 and 4.

Yes, Probe pistons that were junk. Did you read the thread karl Linked? We were not the only ones who had this failure.

A second rebuild was initiated and we got it back after the second build around 9/9/07. These are the facts, they can not be interpreted… I have pics if anyone is interested.

Why is the timeline an issue? Again, your Fast Food approach to hot rodding? Ordering parts, machine shop time, added unexpected delays, ect,ect it happens. Need I remind you at the time your car came in I had 7 other Focus in the shop, 1 mustang, and a panoz. We worked you into the schedule.

Folks, who of you would feel good about that, heck yes we wanted the car back… Karl, you told me to deal with Steve and yes not to bring the car back…. Your argument about time is right on, but four plus months is way over the top.
|
Over the top for an oil change maybe. Why are you so focused on the timeline? Your car was in for elective work. Remember, We could have had a used junk yard engine in the car in under a week per our original suggestion. You opted for the built motor route.

How do you explain away these facts: your second head gasket leaked, even after you took it to the tuners in Elgin, Illinois for a week and in the end never got it tuned? The answer is use the copper gasket and torque the head correctly and you get no leak....
|
Remember when you brought the car back from the "break in driving" And Said, I think there is a coolant leak? We confirmed this by the coolant all around by the coil pack. We paid for (never charged you) And installed a new thermostat housing assembly. The leak appeared to be coming from that piece.
When we got the car on the dyno and with 6 psi boost at about 4,000 rpms, we realized that it was spraying coolant out between the head and the block. We couldn't even finish tuning it. Eriks Street racing adventures Melted the head causing a 1/8th inch deep x 1 inch long chanel to be melted into the head, and some damaged must have occured to the deck.
We then at this point pulled the head, Replaced the head for free with a low mileage freshly resurfaced(.005 removed) head that we had here, also using another cometic head Gasket.
We did not have the car at the tuner for a week and didn't even tune it, we simply couldn't tune it because of the issue. Instead we replaced the damaged head. It's a shame that the dark line left on the block could not be sealed.
In both the original build, and after replacing the cylinder head, We used a new cometic MLS head gasket, Arp HEAD Studs Torqued exactly to arp's specs and using the factory sequence. A copper gasket probably did fill the damage on the block that he caused, Although the correct way to fix that type of damage would have been to resurface the deck.

So I ask you again how do explain the following:
Valve cover leaking oil?
Front crankshaft seal leaking oil?
Rear main seal leaking oil?
Oil pan gasket leaking oil?
Missing oil dip stick?
How about the two missing bell housing bolt?
Front bumper apron fastener’s missing, zip tied on one side..
|
Oil leaks caused by cylinder pressure getting into crank case due to blown head gasket / melted head all caused from abuse during break in period. The damage to the head / block began right off cylinder # 4 and extended right into an oil return passage. That would pressurize the crankcase in a hurry.
Missing dipstick? Ok, maybe we left it out after swapping the head for free for you.
Any missing bolts were probably from the last owner as well. So many non essential bolts were missing from the car from previous work than ours it was rediculous.
Car came in with bumper fastened with zip ties from previous owner.
The car was a hacked to death nightmare when you brought it into the shop. And you stressed to do everthing as cheap as possible.

We still use the SPA wastegate you installed!

Um,???? Great. Thanks.

The block was not NEW, your quote "We just got the block back a few minutes ago. We will begin assembly right away”. I have it if you want it back.
|
Huh??? What are you talking about. Who ever said anything about a new block? It was a core that we had machined like any other motor we would build.
I loved the phone calls from you better. We let you know that the machine shop is done with the block and we are getting ready to assemble, and you ask us "can I pick it up saturday" As if you assume it is as simple as an oil change or tire rotation to build a motor and put it into a car.

The work was bad, you and I have the pics to prove it. Let’s move on, or get some one else involved to get our story straight!

The work was great. You know so little about cars that you do not even comprehend the fact that your son damaged the built motor, and this is what caused all the problems. Now you feel the need make it public? For what reason.
I am also sure that in the few weeks after the car was back to you guys before you brough it to the other shop, he drove and beat the crap out of it some more without a final safe tune in it.
I will have it known that we went above and beyond what we or anyone else should have / would have done in this situation.
