So the story of Animal ( yes, Jen named the car Animal) is five years in the making. Lorin and I got this crazy idea to campaign an H Stock Focus. The requirements were that the car had to be a base model (not even air conditioning), a 5 speed and a 2.3L Duratec. Jen and I had decided that we were just not having much fun in our 01 Cobra so we decided to trade it in for a Focus. That's when the love affair began.
In the first 3 months of ownership the car had Konis, an H-stock modified FocusSport exhaust, a lap harness, and a leather wrapped steering wheel. We had fun for a couple of autocross seasons and decided we needed more parts. Cosworth here we come!
The CAI was the first purchase and the beginning of the DuraMonster. As time went by the desire for more horsepower got stronger. After the first ride in Lorin's parents FSP car Jen and I were sold on the rest of the Cosworth goodies. Thanks to many Jetters selling off parts we managed to pick up an intake manifold and throttle body for our car. As well as getting an exhaust and Tein Coliovers and EDFC off of a wrecked Focus (RIP Lowlifestyle SVT!!) We also decided to replace our soft, not quite right factory clutch with the newly available Exedy stage one clutch and flywheel, Quaife and 4.06 gears. With all these new parts it was off to Randy to have him tune our car. That was the longest, loudest ride to FS but way worth it. But we needed it to be faster and louder. The header is the last engine piece we added. We wanted louder and faster and that's what we got. With a slight tweak of the tune by Randy for the header we ended up where we are today. The car is loud and definitely does not compromise for comfort in most conceivable ways but it is a blast and a definite part of the family.
The appearance of the car has changed drastically over the 5 years. At this point it is pretty close to completion.
Planned Future Additions:
SVT Brake Kit
F2 RS Replica painted fiberglass spoiler
Roll cage
Glossy window trim
A new front bumper
Rob campaigning our H Stock Focus
Our nearly bone stock Focus (It had Konis and an FS exhaust)
Custom vinyl by bigdaddyzx3
At Jetfest w/Jen's hetero lifemate Queen Jade
On our way to Oregon for the Larrison Hill Climb
Jen auto-crossing in Atwater
