Like Honkey said, it's not a good placement/setup for speakers in a car... however I imagine you are getting a bit stronger bass due to reflection and the shape of the car. I had two 10's in the trunk-well of an '86 Camaro and they hit HARD bouncing off the hatch glass.

Upgrade your headunit and upgrade your front speakers. That alone will make an enormous difference, and it probably will get you into the car audio hobby just by the big improvement you'll notice.
