you can search for events on
www.myautoevents.com or thru
www.SCCA.org and then by region. I think NASA is starting some sort of solo events as well, but there is nothing around here from either SCCA or NASA.
Concerning the post about SVT-horsepower. On my ZX3, I had Crower cams, off road 4-2-1 header, AEM CAI, 65mm TB, Vibrant exhaust with larger flex pipe, ACT clutch, Steeda shifter, Koni dampers, Progress sway bars and springs, Brembo replacement rotors, EBC pads, half gutted interior, and lighter weight Corbeau seats. At GingerMan raceway (2 mile, 11-turn road course) my ZX3 ran consistantly 2 seconds faster than my SVT. I had both cars out at the track at the same time, and the ZX3 was clearly faster coming out of the corners. The SVT would brake much later due to its vastly better binders, but it wasn't enough to catch my ZX3. My brother and I took turns in each car, with the same results. When I had him run my ZX3 and I sat at the end of the front straight to watch him, I was able to see the front rotors glowing red-orange going into to turn 1.
With a few modifications, a ZX3 can be made to be quicker than a SVT. However, the modifications to the ZX3 made the car unpleasent for street use and kind of quirky depending on weather conditions. The SVT is better suited for everyday driving and track use.
