I think so.

Another factor I forgot to mention is that these speakers may be less efficient than average and require more power to get normal sound levels. You combine higher power needs with less power available and you will be much more likely to get clipping and distortion.

You will just have to be careful not to turn it up to the point of distortion, but that is always true. It just happens easier on a low powered amp.
