If someone could verify this with me, or if I have it backwards... I am trying to determine how wheel offsets differ...

Just for the ease of discussion...

A wheel with an offset of 45mm is going to stick out further than one with a 50mm offset. Or do I have this reversed?

I ordered a set of ASA AR2s for my GTI, but they won't be in until the end of July... I've been getting antsy, and now have completely changed my mind, and I want to go for Borbet Type XL, the only difference is the offset, and I'd eventually like to lower the car some, and I don't want rubbing issues.
