You will gain around 5whp. It will affect mostly during idle. We cannot say whether you will have problems or not with your application. Every application will have different results due to several variables.

I've been thinking of doing an underdrive pulley but was wondering if there are any drawbacks (besides the headlight dimmingat idle which I don't care about)??? I have heard some people have had engine troubles caused by underdrive pulleys? Is this true?

There are no major drawbacks under normal circumstances. In regards to the engine troubles, I've yet to find someone who determined that the underdrive pulley created a problem with facts to back it up. All you see is threads full of speculations. There is theory and then there is reality. Yes, the engine comes from the factory with a dampener and they are usually there for a reason. Just like with many other things, all engines are not created equal. It seems that the Zetec can tolerate not having a dampener as there are hundreds of people using them with only a handful of failures that blame the pulley without evidence to back it up. This in no way means that we can guarantee that you will not have any problems.

We might offer a limited amount in colors on the next production batch which is still a few months away.

Cool thanks, I'm just a little paranoid since my Focus is my only car right now. I've never seen any proof that a underdrive pulley did anything harmful, just wanted some feedback from somebody knowledgable on the subject. ![]() |

You'll care when your alternator goes out. Do yourself a favor and upgrade your battery, or get a tune and raise your idle, or just do like I did yesterday and buy a PA Performance alternator that is wayyy better than the stocker. Think about it like this, everytime your lights blink, that's a hit that your alternator is taking.

How in the hell do you get the water pump pulley off? Is there any way to do it without jacking the engine up?
And on another note. I have a 2004 zx3 2.0 Zetec. I ordered the udp from steeda and was sent the 2pc. Now I'm thinking I may have needed the single piece with the belt.... How would I be able to tell?.... without putting the waterpump and crank pulley on first.... Thanks. |

I wish someone would make a set of light weight pulleys in the stock size. I really don't want to under drive my blower

With an underdrive pulley kit are the new pulleys bigger or smaller than factory?
What is the weight difference between the factory ones?

The crank pulley is smaller and the water pump pulley is bigger. Our two piece pulley kit is approximately 2.5lbs lighter than factory.
