Default Thumbs down to CFM

I feel like a very disssatisfied customer rite now. Ok so i have been very busy this last week with school and work. So when my part was delivered to me friday they left a note on my door with the notification order #. Anyway saturday afternoon i headed down to the UPS center where my package was being held. Waited for 20 mins for my package. and when the guy came to the counter with the package it was sitting rite in front of me and on the box stated "must be 21 to sign off" So when did CFM start doing this?!?!? i was NEVER told or reminded by cfm that i had to let them know i was 21 to purchase this part?! is a high flow cat alcohol which has to be picked up by a 21 year old??? i thought u had authorized LEGAL consent when your 18 years of age? i had planned to have this for a Xmas present and now this has been ruined. I could not pick up my own part with my own I.D and purchase with MY money. forgot to mention that i live on my own and have no family around here. I am very lose to returning this item and getting my money back and never ordering again! in my many years of ordering parts and packages have i ever heard having to be 21 to sign off on a package?! thumbs down CFM!

This may be a UPS policy or a local law. Are you sure this is a policy of CFM?

why would cfm put a 21 year old age consent on it?! on any package that matter, and no i was told by UPS that the sender put this restriction on the package. how would any of u like if u were to receive a gift u have bought with your own money, living on your own and have your own i.d to pick it up with and telling u u need to be 21 years of age to sign off on a signature when a age legal consent is 18!! and 21 for alcohol purchases?!?

I understand you are frustrated. I wasn't aware that this was a CFM policy. CFM has great customer service and will make this right, I'm sure.

My guess (and let me reiterate that this is only a guess...) is that this has to do with some sort of state or federal law. I may be wrong, and if I am, someone who's in the know... correct me.

My guess is that somebody screwed up in the UPS software when they did up shipping the label. There's one check box for "Signature Required" and another for "Adult Signature Required". I'm guessing they meant to check the "Signature Required" one but hit the other?

I used to work for UPS, and if my memory serves me correct, you can request a redeliver and you can have your package without being 21. The person at teh UPS place sometimes requests someone to be 21, but did you show him the shipping contents listing. That alone usually does the trick. Also that person must have been a dick to follow such rules. ridiculous. I for one can understand your frustration but wouldnt take it out onf CFM.
I am currently in Iraq Serving my Coutnry and not being able to have certain stores send me stuff frustrates the crap out of me, so i totally understand.
Relax and Merry Christmas.

I can tell that you're fustrated, as I would be if that happened to me. If this is CFM's fault, I'm sure that they'll make it right. Just don't burn your bridges, find out all the facts first.

This has happened to me on more then one occassion, including a cell phone shipped from Cingular in a Cingular box. I'd be really suprised if it was CFMs policy and not a screw up/policy at UPS. Just wanted to let you know, and hope it helps make you feel better.
Merry Christmas!

Must be the end of the world. When I order stuff over $500 of stuff from companies, they ask for a signiture. I am not sure how much you ordered, but I know this was the case for me 4 years ago when I order something from C-F-M over $500. I don't remember if it was an adult signiture required back that time or a regular signiture required. Never thought there was an age restriction to be atleast 21. Kind of like renting a car some places ask you be atleast 25 for some reason.

I would ask c-f-m to see if they can remove the adult signiture and ask for regular signiture or something. I am sure you can work something out.

EnviedSVT, did you call CFM and talk to them about it? I understand you're frustrated, but it's always better to try to work it out with them first before spreading around a bad experience. CFM has always been a great company to deal with, and one post of bad-mouthing can go a very long way against what could have been an error or a misunderstanding. I've never heard of a restriction like this, but really, you should talk to the company first.

I agree with what Cayse said. EnviedSVT should of talked with CFM first. If they did not resolve the issue, I would see a need to post something. I guess he is venting more than anything at this moment. I would think with the holidays C-F-M will be open on Tuesday.

Not to be an ass but maybe you should have ordered a long time ago if you were going to be in such a hurry to get it. I have ordered plenty from CFM and they seem to be great guys. I always leave plenty of time between when I order my stuff and when I need to have it so this doesn't happen to me.

um? i was not in a rush. I knew exactly the date it would be here and the timeline i had. C-F-M NEVER once told me about a age restriction to buy anything from them to be able to receive it. It was a Xmas present and that was now ruined hence "LIVING ON MY OWN" and have no one from my family around here to sign off on it. I am not bad mouthing them but they should let there customers know they must be 21 to buy a high flow cat? maybe i thought i was ordering some hennessy? but i guess i was wrong. It wouldnt bother me so much but it was a christmas present and now have to wait another week for the package to be re routed to my parents house hours away or i will call cfm to tell ups to take the age restriction off of it i am not bad mouthing cfm because i know there a great quality company. JUST VENTING for my frustration. WHO ELSE HAS HAD TO SIGN OFF TO BE 21 ON A SIGNATRE??? last time i checked its 18 years of age for authorized legal consent

I am not sure why UPS would require an adult signiture be 21 years old. I would think an adult signiture would be 18 years old also. Maybe some here that works at UPS can answer that?

While I understand your frustration, I seriously think that its just a simple misunderstanding... notably the "Adult Signature Required" box.

Last time I checked... "Adult Signature" per UPS's rules mean over 21.

Why would someone request an Adult Signature? I dunno... too many times that a 13 year old has signed for something, and then proceeded to lose it entirely, maybe?

Perhaps CFM's shipping guy thought it meant an adult over 18 years old..... I dunno. But seriously man, its a simple mistake... nothing to get overly bent out of shape over. I mean, really..... ruined your Christmas present? If you had bought and purchased it for yourself.... don'tcha think you can relax a smidge?

Like others have said, talk with CFM first to see what is the deal.

This is probably some sort of miscommunication somewhere. UPS has something on their website about Terms of Service:

Quote:
Delivery Confirmation Signature Required (domestic and international) - A shipper may request UPS to obtain the recipient’s signature and to include it on the Delivery Confirmation response. In such case, an additional charge, set forth in the UPS Rates applicable to the shipment in effect at the time of shipping, will be assessed.

Delivery Confirmation Adult Signature Required (domestic and international) - A shipper may request UPS to obtain the signature of an adult 21 years of age or older and to include it in the Delivery Confirmation response. An additional charge, set forth in the UPS Rates applicable to the shipment in effect at the time of shipping, will be assessed. UPS, in its sole discretion, will determine if delivery can be completed when such a request is made, and may request photo identification indicating the recipient’s age, before completing delivery. The shipper must use a
UPS automated shipping system to initiate a request for this service.

I'm guessing it's a box where someone put in the wrong field. Just relax. Even though you couldn't get it by the day, it's not like the world will end...unless you would have preferred someone else signing for it and you not even seeing the package at all.
