Default Oil Separator?

What exactly does this do?

It is placed inline with the PCV hose to retain any oil that is traveling through before it goes in the intake manifold and then into the cylinder causing harmful oil deposits. The engine already comes with an oil separator but it doesn't catch smaller oil particles mixed in with the air. This can also be used on the valve cover vent for vehicles with blowby usually experienced in force inducted applications. This will keep the valve cover breather from getting saturated with oil.

Default Re: Oil Separator?

is there an SVT specific model? It comes out the upper right hand side of the valve cover instead of the back. Also, the SVT uses a 5/8" hose and most hose barbs that fit into the 1/4 threaded part of the filter are only 3/8 Inside diameter. Solution?

Default Re: Oil Separator?

Is the oil separator usable for the SVT or is it for non-SVT only?

It is very simple. You just cut the PCV hose a few inches before it connects to the intake manifold and use the supplied barb unions to connect the supplied hose inline with the factory PCV hose.

Will try to have pics soon...

I have a FS/VF Supercharger kit and there is a one-way valve between the intake manifold and the PCV tube. Should this Oil Separator go between the IM and the one-way valve or between the one-way valve and the PCV tube?

Between intake manifold and one way valve: Under boost you will pressurize the separator system. This will not hurt anything but you will loose some air momentarily while the additional area is filled with air. Will probably not cause a noticeable decrease in performance.

Between one way valve and PCV valve: Optimal place for install since you won't have to worry about possible effects of other method.

Realistically, I would mount it wherever it is easier and uses the least amount of hose. I don't think the effects of pressurizing the separator system will cause a decrease in performance worth worrying about.
