Default Re: PRODUCT FAQ: SVT High Flow Cat Pipe

I installed mine and it sounds good with the MBRP exhaust. Also I can feel it has more get up and go after 2500 rpm's not much more but more. Also get and extra 10-15 miles per tank now.

CFM, is it possible to mount the pre-cat O2 sensor on the side like the above pictured offroad pipe?

I believe you're referring to the post cat bung. We could do a one off anyway you want. Otherwise they are made from a jig.

So far... I'm glad I now have a "legal" exhaust (I previously had an ORP), the tone is a lot better now. I can feel a slight loss of power in the lower RPM, but nothing huge. I do however have a VERY annoying heatshield rattle around 1 grand and 3 grand. I'm trying to figure out what I can do to keep it from rattling... maybe you guys at CFM can help me out. Otherwise, the quality was awesome, very nice stainless look and just as light as the ORP was. Easy install too!! Thanks CFM and lemme kno if you can help me out!!

Try moving the exhaust around to see if the pipe is hitting somewhere and get back to me. Thanks!

After a good month and half, including a track day, I've got no issues here. Still sounds and feels rock solid.

well after some work on the car, I've found the top of the Cat is hitting the bottom of the oil pan and making that annoying rattling at 1500 and 3 grand. Any ideas on what I should do to help? Or anything you all at CFM can do for me?? <---- pouty face haha

Has the header ever been removed from your SVT? Just wondering because there is some play at the flange and if someone tightened the flange all the way up it would cause the bottom of the header to be closer to the oil pan.

The mating flanges on the header and cat pipe also have some play. Try loosening the bolts and dropping the cat pipe down slightly. That could take care of the problem. If you're unable to resolve the issue then we will send you a replacement but we'd like you to try adjusting it again before proceeding with the replacement. Thanks!

On a few of them, the flange that mates to the flexpipe was close to the factory heat shield under the car. Please make sure it is not hitting there instead.

I named it the RT Cat Canyon edition. That crack got bigger over time. I heard a difference in tone, it progressively got worse. I waited till I had time to put it on stands. I originally though i had a gasket go bad between flex and catback. Then I saw the new Canyon Edition.

Overall quiter. The most noticable change was it got rid of the 2000-3000 RPM drone I had with the ORP. Also don't have to crank the stereo up as much at freeway cruising speeds.

well... after messing around with the cat and loosening the bolts to drop the cat a little lower, I've found that the top of the cat's heat-shield is still hitting the bottom of the oil pan when idling, or when at 3 grand. It's waaaaay annoying... I wonder if there's anything I could put in between the two to stop the metal-to-metal rattling. I really don't think it's hurting anything... noises in my car drive me nuts!!! Let me kno if you have any answers and I'll try to get some pics.

The easiest thing to do would be to put a small dent on the heatshield. Has your exhaust manifold been removed before? There is some play on the bolts which attach it to the cylinder head. It is possible your manifold is sitting a little higher than necessary causing the cat to hit the pan.
