Default Re: PRODUCT FAQ: SVT High Flow Cat Pipe

Is the stock cat bracket not used with this pipe? If not, will this cause stress problems with the flex pipe down the road?

This is 2.25" diameter, correct? Any plans for a 2.5" version?

Our unit does not use the stock catalytic converter bracket. I don't see it having any problems, as our part weighs a good amount less than the stock unit. The svtf uses 2.5 inch piping from the header to cat to the flex pipe.

Got any weight figures for the stock and for your unit? I don't want to limp along with a zero-margin design for holding up the cat.

But I will buy soon if I like the answer/solution you give.

THanks

Question Re: PRODUCT FAQ: SVT High Flow Cat Pipe

Got mine Friday and installed it Saturday morning. Looks even better in real life than the picture. As for sound, it's "throatier" than with the stock Cat and much less "brassier" than the ORP I took off.

One quick question. The instructions state to install the MIL eliminator (which is not included) in the rear O2 sensor harness. Is that really needed with this Cat? I've got an SCT tune that covers me for that issue normally but I usually go back to stock tune when taking it in for service. Am I going to need to get a MIL eliminator to avoid getting a CEL when running the stock tune?

Thanks for any info on this both for me and any future purchasers.

Ron

I don't have any hard numbers for you. I intalled mine yesterday to replace an ORP. So I had a stock CAT, the CFM CAT and a FC ORP handy to do a comparison. Based on my unscientific method of just picking them up I would say the FC ORP and CFM CAT together didn't weigh any more than the stock CAT. The CFM CAT was definitely considerably lighter than the stock CAT.

Thanks for the good review! The high flow cat instructions were copied from the offroad pipe instructions and the part about the MIL installation was not removed. I will have that corrected. Thanks for bringing it up.

You're welcome. I must say the long wait for delivery was worth every minute of it. All approximately 86,400 minutes it took.

That's good to hear on the MIL eliminator. That will make the local SVTF'r that's going to buy my ORP happy. Now I won't have to keep the MIL eliminator from it and make him go buy one.

Yeah I saw that. I thanked him for posting those pics since I didn't even think about doing that until I was completely done.

They are being built in small batches but we're going to increase the amount due to the demand.

Do I need the flex pipe to cat gasket also (your part #2m5z9450AA), or is it included, or is that a use-over with the stock one? I'm gonna use Pblaster on all threads, but I don't doubt that I'll end up destroying some of the stock hardware - does this gasket usually get trashed in the process?

Looks like you include all hardware for both ends of this thing - true?

Pblaster helps but you should really torch them to get them loose properly. You rarely run into problems getting bolts off when they're glowing red.

You should be able to reuse the stock gaskets. The gaskets are not included in the kit.
