Default Early 2000 manifold port matching

I noticed that on the CFM website, there are early 2000 manifold for sale. As I understand it, they are brand new, unmolested units. People keep talking about porting (port matching) these intakes and installing them on Zetec Foci. I have an early 2K mani sitting, waiting to be installed, pending the port matching. I can easily do the TB porting, but to do the head end, that's more difficult, since I don't have anything to compare the manifold against. Do you have any advice to offer on this? Or some kind of easy way so I don't remove too much material? Thanks.

You will have to create a template of the ports on the cylinder head and then match them on the intake. You will have to use some creativity on how to make the template. It is not a big deal if you open up the ports on the intake a little more than necessary. It is better than being too small.

Okay, thanks. That's about what I was thinking, but I've been wrong before.
