sct xcal 2 question

I have a sct xcal 2 I bought from c-f-m I'm triying to sell..I have a 2000 focus zx3 5 speed...I took out the tune so its unlocked but when I tried puting it in my friends focus (2003 focus zx3 5 speed) it says it needs to be upgraded...but when i use it in my parents (2001 focus se auto) it works...i'm triying to sell it to my friend...any idea on what I have to do???

That is very strange for it to be doing that. The best thing to do is to troubleshoot this with the guys at SCT. Their phone number is 407-774-2447.

It sounds like you have one of the preloaded 9415 tuners. To determine this, when you go to the program vehicle menu do you have to select your vehicle (focus, etc.) or do you just have a choice of 1 to 3 tunes? The 9415 devices support a limited number of vehicles and what you are trying it on may be one that is not supported (doesn't mean it can't be tuned, it is just not supported on that device.)

To use it on that vehicle then it would need to be loaded with a custom tune for that processor code.

I have to choose the vehicle I hace...it has abunch of ford vehicles and I choose "focus zetec"

Then yes you have a 9415. Check with version of files that are on there: instead of selecting your vehicle scroll all the way to the bottom and a sequence of digits like "9415 ALL Vxx" will be displayed. What does that say? Also, if you hook the unit up to your friends car that you are trying to sell it to and do a read strategy (vehicle info - read strategy) and give me that info I can tell you if that vehicle will be supported through an update to the unit.
