Default 5.9" Crank Pulley

You guys wouldn't happen to have a picture of this pulley installed would ya? I'm looking at a 6" crank pulley and wanted to know if there would be any clearance issues.

Although I don't know from personal experience, I have heard that 6.0" is the absolute largest you can go without clearance issues

I have the 5.9" pulley on my car and it looks like there is a hair more room to be had.

I will see if I can have someone find a picture or take a picture of the larger 5.9 crank pulley installed.

There is .500" between 5.9" crank pulley and stock water pump pulley. Serpentine belt sticks out from pulley about .150" so that leaves you with approximately .350" to increase the size of the pulley. I would go with 6.1" to be safe. Keep in mind a pulley of this size could cause problems with overdriving accessories. Not sure if it is worth the hassle/risk for an additional 1-2psi.

Dragging this thread back from the dead...WARNING!

I recently purchased a used FocusSport Vortech/VF supercharger kit and I am planning on installing it within the next couple of months. My question is regarding this pulley...

My kit produces somewhere in the neighborhood of 9-10 PSI on a stock pulley. What kind of increase of boost would I be looking at with your larger pulley?

I believe that only one person on this board has ran that pulley with the FS/VF kit and that was "adn_zx3". Most of us FS/VF supercharger guys used the CFM 5.7" pulley. Are you running the non-intercooled kit?

Intercooled kit. Or at least I will be running it as soon as I pick the whole thing up and install it.

What would be the difference in boost between the 5.7" and the 5.9"?

I believe the stock pulley is around 5.5" so probably the same gain from going from a stock to the 5.7" pulley which is around 2-3psi.

All right, thanks, man. In other words, too much boost for a stock bottom end to handle without danger. Then it looks like I'll be going with the 5.7". Thanks for your help.

Are you sure you're putting out 9-10psi?

I don't personally know, but I asked BUR_ZX3 (he's the one that I bought the kit from), and he told me that his kit was putting out 9-10 with the stock crank pulley. I'll get myself a quality boost gauge and find out for certain when I install it on my car.

Just FYI, the kit is the discontinued Stage 3 FocusSport Vortech/VF kit.

OK, the 5.9" pulley might be a tad bit too much for a stock bottom end then. Try the 5.7" pulley and see where you're at.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I don't want to push it with 14 PSI with a stock bottom end. That would be crazy. 11-12 would be fine, I figure. Thanks for the help.
