What state are you in? That's your only hope for it being "legal". You're gonna be violating federal laws no matter what.

Thumbs up Re: FocusSport 2.0/2.3 litre Duratec turbo kits - pics, dyno, & video!

FYI,
Where can I see a fusion kit for sale? I went on the web-site and it says "in development".

I want a manual trans sedan for a family car, and the 4 cylinder needs more power, but before I bite the bullet on a Fusion I need to know if forced induction is available

I want to know what is available for the fusion, what the kit includes, including turbo part number (so I can see the compressor map), how the boost/wastegate is controlled.

FYI I already have an excalibrator, and have tuned many of my owned forced induction V8 cars (32v4.6), so injectors and the tuner, etc I'm not so concerned about.

What is your impression of drivability and durability at the 300WHP level?
Fit-up and clearance is ok?

Installation requires removal of the front suspension member / engine cradle?

Thanks for any information on kit components, drivability, and pricing/availability.

Edit: I'm looking at buying a 2006 or 2007 Fusion 2.3 5-speed, if that makes any difference on compatiblity. Just having a turbo-compatible exhaust manifold with good fitup, would save me a helluva lot of time.
BTW, no emmisions testing where I live and I'm not concerned with CARB approval.
Yes my tune runs cleaner than the emission standard anyway, but with no inspection I have no concern about "visual-inspection" issues here in MI.

I really couldn't give you an ETA on our Fusion turbo kit. I certainly wouldn't buy a car based around the idea since its not certain. The kit has been pushed back many times.

We won't be releasing them until SCT sorts out the UI for the X3. I don't have an ETA at this time, sorry.

I guess most of the hard parts to physically install the Turbo would be my main interest. Would most of the Focus kit work? same manifold, different fitment on the down-tube?

If you don't mind sharing, what all is lacking or different for the fusion setup?

I may be willing to just tackle those items on my own if you were to consider selling just the "fusion compatible" pieces.

Thanks,

Don

No, there are very few pieces of our Focus turbo kit that will work on the Fusion. At this time we are not selling pieces of our turbo kit separately, sorry.

Hi, just finished reading all 55 pages last night and registered after.
Excellent work and awesome customers support. I'm just jalous what you american boys can get!
Now, as years go, have you at Focussport gained some experience with european Duratecs? Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? I've got even smaller broher - 1.8 litre Duratec @ 125 hp stock engine, how about modding this one? Would it be possible? I'll post engine details if needed. Thank you and once again BRAVO!

Last must have taken a bit to read.

We don't have European models here in the US so its not something we've messed with, sorry.

Randy, this summer im looking to turbo my d20, only problem is that it's an atx. ive heard youve had plenty of experience with this dilema. what supporting parts/mods would i need for the atx in order to make it a sensible DD with the stage1 turbo (and possibly stage2). and most importantly will the transmission last?

edit- just looked completely through the thread. do you have an atx setup ready yet? or will there be one for the summer

We can do ATX turbo kits, we've already done many. Its not an issue. You don't need anything. We recommend a good 2.5" exhaust, though. If you drive it like its your car and not a rental you'll be fine with Stage 1. For Stage 2 I'd probably roll with 9psi if you don't want to do any trans upgrades.

i already have the 2.5" exhaust. do you think the stage2 at 9psi would be pushing it? hoping to have the car for at least 4 years (10kmiles on it now)

got it, but do you think the stage2 is right on the edge as far as pushing the trans goes?

No, as I've said run it at around 9psi and your trans will be fine.

What's the problem? Engine is the same, turbo kit will fit, software can be done localy, would you sell to Europe?
Got any partner here?
Cheers.

We don't have the Mk2 Focus. Our Duratecs are in the Mk1. The kit must fit into the engine bay of the CAR and not just onto the engine. That is critical. If you'd like to buy a kit we'll sell it to you, but there would be no refunds.

Gawd, I wonder if this would fit in my 2006 2.3 Escape. Lots more room under the hood? hmmm.

Speaking of, how are the kits for the '08s working out? I heard they were in driving stage. I'm salivating at that thought of them being finished.

We are waiting for SCT to sort out the UI on the X3. Without the X3 being ready for the 2008 > we can't really sell kits.

We have our two 2008 turbocharged Focuses that work great, but the way that I have to load files and data log is not something that consumers can do at this point.
