    Default pcv valve 2.3?

Can someone tell me how to get to the pcv valve on my 2.3? I poked around a bit yesterday and couldn't seem to locate it. A pic would be nice but a good explanation would do as well. I'm at 80k and I think im a bit past due.

    Thanks!

Daven, most models have the PCV valve located in the crankcase ventilation oil seperator, which is mounted lower on the engine.

The way my manuals describing this, you need to raise the vehicle, put it on jackstands, remove the splash-shield, remove the intake manifold for access to the PCV valve, disconnect the PCV hose on the valve at the seperator, Push in the two tabs, and twist the PCV valve out.

It then says that on all models, SPI/Zetec/Duratec to test the valve, shake it vigorously. If it doesn't rattle, replace the valve.

    Hope this helps.

This is for a 2006 2.0 Duratec. I can only assume yours would be in the same location.
It's the blue thing and is behind the intake manifold.

Theoretically it's fail rate is low, but anything can fail. LOL

Just like the electronic struts on Taurus SHO's, and Cadillac's were supposed to have a very low fail rate. Mom's already replaced her's on the SHO, and it's now just climbed past 100K since replacing them I think?

your taking about somthing way differnt as a strut has way to many variables. Road condition, Driver, list goes on...

Probably it is low. But when its out of warrenty and they hand you the bill for the replacement , I bet you would really like to shake the hands of the engineers who put it there.

suck it up and install the part...if you cant work on cars.. then don't mod them.

Bryst, yes, there are tons of variables on struts. I was just trying to give a different example, and apparently I chose a bad one.

I agree with Bryst about sucking up, and doing it, or just not modding them.

It's more enjoyable if you can work on/mod your own car. It also saves tons of money. Just be sure you feel comfortable with the task you're getting ready to perform though.
