Thumbs up FocusSport 2.0/2.3 litre Duratec turbo kits - pics, dyno, & video!

Since we're starting to finish up our FS Werks turbo kit for the Fusion, I was wondering if there was interest in turbo kits for the Duratec Focus?

It looks like we'll be able to adapt our Fusion kit to the Focus without too much headache. I've already started my Fusion tuning for the turbo, which is much more difficult than the Focus, so the Focus should be easy in comparison.

With our non intercooled turbo kit on the 2.3 litre Fusion we've already seen 215 HP to the wheels. That was with 7-8 psi on Cali 91 octane. Our kits will sell for $3195.00 complete with an XCal2 and programming. Oh, and that is with our lovely cast turbo manifold , not some tubular log. Obviously, intercooler upgrades would be an option, too.

Just looking for some feedback from you Duratec guys. Thanks.

Here is the latest dyno from our FS Werks Fusion turbo kit. You can expect similar gains from the 2.3 litre Focus. Remember, this is our non intercooled kit at 8 psi on Cali 91 octane.

We just added a dyno video to the FS Werks site. To check it out go to: www.fswerks.com or to go directly to the video, click this: FS Werks site

Here are a few dynos from our 2.0 litre Duratec ZX3:

Stock - 112.4 HP and 116 TQ

FocusSport Stage 1 non intercooled turbo kit @ 8 psi - 190 HP and 177 TQ

Stock - 112.4 HP and 116 TQ

FocusSport Stage 2 intercooled turbo kit @ 11 psi - 222 HP and 233 TQ

Stock - 112.4 HP and 116 TQ

FocusSport Stage 1 non intercooled turbo kit @ 8 psi - 190 HP and 177 TQ

FocusSport Stage 2 intercooled turbo kit @ 11 psi - 222 HP and 233 TQ

This is what we're doing for now. Power could go up slightly or down slightly, depending on how extended road and track tests go.

Keep in mind all of our testing and programming is done on California 91 octane and the spark is pretty conservative.

A pic of the FocusSport Stage 2 intercooler kit, priced at $799.95:

Here is a dyno video of the FocusSport non intercooled turbo kit at 8 psi on our 2.0 litre Duratec. On CA 91 octane, of course:

I'm pretty sure that is one of the most highly anticipated things for the focus right now... Duratec FI.

Yes, highly anticipated, but only responded to by some SVT owners!

Yes,I've already been rethinking my N/A plans....
And I'm watching closely the progress that you guys,Ricardo at F2,and Juan at Hiboost are making with turbos on the Duratec/Mazda MZR engine...

But I think you guys have an advantage...the online gift certificate set-up that you have on your website...I can start dropping weekly or monthly money on you guys and let it build-up-right?
No deciding to spend it on frivolous non-focus related things like that pesky rent(soon to be a mortage..we are hoping)or utility bills etc.

Yes,I'm very interested, your above pricing sounds very reasonable, and I'm sure the horsepower levels will come up even more....

Can you give us any details on the model/specs of the turbo you are using yet?
I'm very curious what you are going to ultimately produce power wise when intercooled...

Good work Randy!

Actual dyno #'s like you have are always appreciated. You're also working at a pricepoint that will be doable for anyone actually interested in doing a turbo duratec.

I'll see about posting a dyno chart next week. I want to do some more tuning, bring up some of my single digit spark into the double digits.

so,

if the Fiesta ever makes it to the US, will the turbo kit you guys are working on also work on that particular application?
if so, count me in

biscuitninja,

As my first post says, we're just seeing if we should work on adapting our Fusion turbo kit for the Duratec Focus.

As for what's available, we're not ready to show our cards just yet. However, you'll be able to see what we've got on the Fusion at SEMA. And for those not attending, I'm sure pics will be floating around on the first day of the show.

We wouldn't do it any other way.

Of course, we'd include the FS/SCT XCal2 flasher and data logger in the kit price, just like our Zetec blower kit.

I couldn't say with certainty not having seen the Fiesta first hand, but I'm sure we could adapt it if the demand was there.

Randy, is this a turbo kit, or a centifrugal supercharger kit?

Turbo kit. There really just isn't enough room for a cent blower for us. It's OK, though, we like turbos, too.

I've been getting quite a few e-mails asking me about how we design and tune our kits.

As for the turbo kit's design, we do it all in-house at FocusSport. Vik, our head fabricator is very good at what he does and it really helps that we don't have to farm out the work to someone else.

As for the tuning, again we do it all in-house. Since we have our own Dynojet and I do the programming, it's quite efficient and we don't have to rely on others to get things done.

I hope that helps for those who are wondering how this works.

Except for the casting. That is HOT. My boss at work ( UM3D Lab ) has done some RP work for Hasport for their new B18 intake manifolds. Casting = teh win

Um, yes please.

7-8psi is looking OK on the fusion? Same internals as the Focus 2.3?
