Default Sandwich plate for gauges?

Hey I'm looking to install some gauges in my car. I'm going to get a full A-pillar 3-gauge pod, with a tach, oil temp, and I think oil pressure gauges. If you have any recommendations on which gauges (as in which type, not which brand) would be best to get, I'm all ears.
So here's my question: I need some way to tap into the oil to get my oil temp/pressure, but if possible I'd like to not have to drill anything. Can I just use a sandwich plate for this? It might be a dumb question, I don't know. I saw a manufacturer selling sandwich plates specifically for tapping sensors into the oil, but they didn't have one for the ol' Focus. It's an 07 by the way. I know I would need a 3/4"-16 plate, but I don't know if there's any that fit my desired application.

Do NOT get this one: http://prosportgauges.com/oil-filter-adaptor-plate.aspx

I have one and was unable to get it to seal between the block and the filter, and ended up replacing ~3 qts of oil about weekly until I finally gave up and took the thing off. I have heard of other's having that same experience. BAT Inc. offers a filter relocation kit that I suspect would work.

Does the plate allow you to read oil pressure or oil temp?

Thanks guys, I found what looks like the exact same adapter from glowshift, and it's on its way. Now I just need to decide which gauges to get. Any suggestions? I'm thinking tach, oil pressure and oil temp. Does this sound like a good setup to you guys?

if you want a tach, just buy a cluster with a tach in it. keep the tach with the cluster.

What about oil pressure, oil temp, and air-feul ratio gauges? Saying0487 is right, you should keep the tach in the cluster.

Plus they don't make a tach that small. Not to mention having a 2" tach wouldn't do you any good

They do make 2" tachs. I don't plan on using the tach for racing, I'd just like to know what rpm I'm at. I'll definitely look into the cluster tach though, that sounds like a good idea.

a cluster with a tach will swap right in. Just make sure you get one for the right year of your car...ie 00-04 won't fit 05 and newer. Also, if your car does not have abs, the red brake light and ABS light will come on. Unfortunately the only way to turn the light off is to cover it with electrical tape. I tried everyway I know to turn the light off and no avail. So the dealership won't be able to turn the light off for you. It won't affect anything, just the lights will be on.

Any idea where I could get a cluster? I don't have a tach as it is right now (stupid S model lol), so will I have to get anything else to hook it up? I.E. tach driver?

nope, no tach driver needed. just take the old one out, put the new one in. just know that whatever mileage is on the new cluster is what will show up. so say you buy a cluster with 35k miles on it and ur car actually has 20k, it will say 35k still. something to keep in mind.

Those look an awful lot like glowshift gauges..........

I've used glow shift gauges and their sandwich adapter plate with no problems. Looks just like the one posted above.

i got my tach cluster off ebay for 50.00- and installed it when i reached the mileage the used one said. that way there wasn't any discrepancy in the mileage. You can have it redone through ford dealerships to say the correct mileage, but that would run roughly 300.00 or so. Steve at tousley ford can prob get you a tach cluster new and programmed for about that. just a thought!
