Glad to see this going in.
Let me know what nights you work on the car, I'm free to lend a hand when I can. You're only 20 minutes away.

Take note: when you think all of the coolant and oil is out of the engine, it really isn't. You'll find more when you go to pull it out.

He's working on it tonight for sure, and maybe tomorrow. I am going to try to help him tomorrow depending if I go look at a car with a friend on the other side of the state.

I don't think Bryan is in any hurry.
But I think once I get over there and there is 2 people it'll scoot a lot faster. I just need to get time.

Chaney is right... I work nights Friday thou Tues 530pm and get home anywhere from 5am to 6am, sleep till 2pm the next day to be at work at 530... Long days. Last night I didnt get to bed till 7am.. I have today and tomorrow off and will be trying to work on the car.
My dead line is October when I move to Kansas City so it needs to be done by then... LOL. Well hope to get the trans off, sub fram, and remove axles, mybe if I have most things done, with Chaney we might be able to pull the motor. Will up date everyone along the way.

I pulled mine out with a friend (but it could be done with just one person). I just used a Harbor Freight engine hoist, and pulled the engine and trans out the top. Piece of pie.
And I've also R&Red the transmission without touching the subframe. Its a little tricky, but I didn't want to mess with the subframe and its alignment. Are you planning on going out the top? Or the bottom? Do you have a hoist? |

yeah, i pulled the transmission on my duratec by myself and the help of only 2 floor jacks (one was holding the engine up, the other was under the transmission as I rocked it loose). Using a Haynes manual to assist is invaluable.

yeah I pull it and installed it solo. installing it solo having it resting on your chest as you lift it into place was fun... lol

oh, that sucks big time. Since i'm doing a motor swap, I'm planning on dropping the whole engine and transmission assembly into the car at once...
your way sounds like a total PITA with lots of swearing and frustration involved. glad you persevered.

well finally got around to do a little work on it.. Took off the turbo/manifold. took off the Driver side and passanger struts.. will be dropping the sub frame soon..
I shipped out my manifold/new turbo and 14-15wg having Vik clock the turbo and install new studs, nuts and washers, new oil line and return line and water lines. so its moving but at a snails pace lets hope to finish this project by end of of the month...

sanded down the turbo pluming going be hitting it with some paint this week.
Might get away with just swing the hub/axles out instead of dropping the sub frame? I think that will work.
