So I just got an 05 ZX3 and it looks like these guys dyno around 110-112hp. I will be doing the usual exhaust, CAI and ECU flash which is good for about 15-20whp. My question is, is there a way to squeeze another 20whp out of the engine without spending more than $1500 or so? I would be happy with about 145-150whp I think. Thoughts?

intake manifold, header, cams should get you that extra ~20whp.

fswerks will def get you hooked up. However, cheap and anything more than 5 CRANK hp will never go in the same sentence. NO2 will be the cheapest easiest way to do it but as many have and will continue to say.... save up for real boost. The duratec responds to na mods pretty good, but most of the ones that'll show you power NA are useless with a turbo (Header). So pretty much, get an exhaust, get an intake manifold maybe a set of mild cams and then start saving for boost.

Agreed....I am one of the funny ones, that do not wish to have boost just yet.
I want the power when I need it,and I dont need it all the time. Therefore the Nitrous is the route Im taking this year. But yeah,FSWerks will get you in the right direction. |

With a relatively stock 2.0L Duratec, FSWerks' off-the-shelf tune would be more than appropriate.
As long as you don't have any funky hardware that drastically changes your parameters, there really isn't a need for a custom dyno tune.

Ok, great. The car has 53k miles, not sure I want to spend the money on a turbo for it, not sure how long these things last. Runs great right now that and like I said, I dont need any major power, just a little more get up and go. Thanks

I ran a 65 shot on my ST for almost 2 years and numerous runs down the 1/4...
Nitrous is fun, and easy, however you will quickly need a clutch (as well with a turbo)... but the main issue is fueling and our cars wonderful plastic intake manifold. I didn't have to worry to much about it though since I had the cossie manifold. A lot of people will knock Nitrous, but there is nothing that makes more power cheaper... and it is just as safe as any other power adder as long as its DONE RIGHT! |

Thanks. Not interested in juicing though
What do the SVT Focus dyno at? Thought I heard around 150-155whp, thats what I was hoping to get without boosting. Can that be done with exhaust, intake manifold, headers, cam and a good tune? If so, whats all that gonna run? Would it just be cheaper to go with that $3200 FSWerks stage 1 turbo and be done with it?
