Top Speed's 300hp NA Duratec Build

Would love to see an update. Not much out there about building up a Duratec 2.5 4 cyl.

Scroll down to the engine portion. It's a race shop so obviously they've got some pretty nice funds to build up an engine like that but it's a nice read.

Brian's a great guy to work with as well...top notch products and service. I've been buying from him for years for my own Mazda MX-5 project.

In fact, that's why I'm here...there is limited experience on the intake side for the Duratec/MZR for the MX-5, unless you eliminate the DBW and go with IRTBs or barrel throttles like Brian. My racing class allows unlimited intake, exhaust, and computer/ECU tuning options...as long as they bolt on an otherwise stock 2.0 block and head (OK, I'm allowed a slight overbore and recip parts can be balanced, but stock internals must remain). Most intakes - like the Cosworth - are good for added top-end hp but at a loss of midrange torque, where my car shines (current state of tune = 160 whp, 145 wtq with custom CAI, header and full exhaust, and ECU tuning). If the Cossie came in a "RWD" configuration - where the TB mounted on the other side, basically flipped 180* - I'd be ecstatic.

Anyone know of a slightly larger DBW TB that can bolt up to the stock manifold? I'm hoping Topspeed gets their manifold done soon...

I have a list in an email for the 300+hp kit. It is pretty expensive, but the ITB manifold is pretty reasonable.

I would love to see this. I'm not saying I could ever afford any of it but it's fun to dream.
