When you refer to fogging are you speaking of moisture or the lenses actually getting milky similar to older headlight lenses? I would guess the fading is due to UV. Have you tried using either a transparent or translucent paint over the lens to deepen the red? Following up the color with a good clear that has UV protection might restore the lens.

Found a couple sites that offer LED tails...They look the same as all the rest, but maybe they're made by different companies?
