It appears to be held on with double sided tape, not sure though..
And also, does anybody know a good how to on painting all the plastic trim? I want to do all the pieces glossy black to match my car..

just open the door and start there, pull slowly and use a heat gun/hair dryer to soften up the adhesive. Also, fishing line will help, just be carefull not to cut through the plastic pegs on the back of the molding...There is a ton of threads on this topic...Heres one. The second post is right on.
