Default Ford Has A New Keypad Available!!

I know many people here have been using Ford's remote keypad. But has anyone seen the new version they recently released? Not only is it much smaller and thinner than the previous style, but it comes with a primed cover so that it can be painted to match the body color.

The part number is 7L2Z-14A626-BA and it has an MSRP of only $85!!!

I just picked one up and plan on painting and installing it tomorrow. I'll try to post pictures when I'm finished.

I'd rather use the remote keyless entry.

I have to agree that I generally prefer the remote for everyday use too. But there are occasional times when I really like the key pad - primarily when I'd prefer locking (and hiding) my keys in the car than to take them with me, such as when going to the beach, hiking, kayaking, skiing, etc.

A key pad (OE or the accessory version) seems frivolous until you've actually had one on your car. Then it's hard to ever go without one again.

Right up untill some vandal yanks that thing off of there with a screwdriver & you're stuck at the beach, locked out of your car.

    Otherwise, it looks ok.

Sorry, but I don't live my life in fear of "what if" situations.

Have you ever tried removing something that's held on with 3M automative tape? It's all but impossible to "yank off". Yes, a vandal could somewhat easily yank the painted cover off. But the keypad itself?? It would take much more than a normal effort.

I'll gladly take my chances. To me the benefits far outweigh the risks.

Thanks Atauru. It's a '52 M38 with the original flathead 4, 24 volt electrical system...and by design is is fully submersible (with the fording kit) to a rated depth of 72" of water! Actually, I didn't fully enable the rest of the fording system since I didn't want the complexity and never plan on submeging it.

    It's frame-off project I finished about 6 years ago.

More info on the Pacer please. Is it a sedan or wagon?
    Do you have more pics?
    (I'm not kidding)
    Thanks!

I like the idea, but I don't think I like the location. I had a friend who had a switch inline on his power locks that was way under his car. whenever he was locked out he could crawl under the car and get to it that way. if it could be mounted somewhere else would be cool, rear wheel well or some right under the lip of the door. I like it thought of it though.

This new design it's small enough that you have much more flexibility in the mounting location. The downside with hiding it too well is you lose the convenience factor. But here's one semi-hidden location I seriously considered, but I preferred the drivers door location.

    Dan-O, it's a '76 pacer-X sedan. It's undergone a complete restoration with a few custom touches added. I'd be happy to e-mail you a few photos if you'd like.
