Time attack EAPs! - Page 3 - Focaljet

Yeah I waited this long... they have summer-only tires on them. They don't mix well with sub-zero temperatures asphalt. I also had to get some black McGard lugs and do some touchups for some rock chips on them.

Pics soon.

Oh and FYI: don't drive around in the winter without center caps. I had to remove one from a winter wheel cause it was rattling, and the wheel was stuck to the rotor. LOL

mine are a little different.... heh.

that's about 5 minutes per wheel with a paint marker. gotta move fast with it; if you run back over drying paint, the tip gets clogged.

i figure that's good for at least 2 washes. 2 gentle washes. then a scotch-brite should remove them completely.

bad pic, but it looks mostly okay. from 6' it looks good. close up, it looks like ... a guy did it in 5 minutes with a paint marker.

You should do the wheels in Ford Blue and polish the lips... they'll look like the badges!

Very nice painting! I would have liked to have used the Infra-Red touchup paint to really get a good color match. The pinstriping isn't quite the same.

i wish there was touch-up available for eggyolk yellow (or zinc yellow) without getting a can custom mixed. i have the little nail-polish-esque bottle for rock chips but it's not really conducive to stuff like this.

i dunno, i don't think it looks bad. it's hardly noticeable unless you're looking for it.

should i rattle can my wheels flat black? and then tell people it's "JDM" ?

LOL, if you do, make sure you only do two, then chip some of the paint off...

CaysE, those wheels look really nice. I thought about spraying my stock 5 spokes and doing something similar. What is your opinion on that?

It would probably look better on the stock 5-spokes, cause there's a lip on them. The EAP wheels don't have a lip.

The vinyl I got is crap... I put a lot of prepwork into them and they're still already falling apart.

Someone mentioned "wheel stripes" that motorcycle guys use and can be found on ebay. I may try those next.

that's okay, the paint marker i had lying around was a sharpie paint marker and apparently their scientists don't know the meaning of the words "ultra-violet." the blue is getting lighter by the day. gonna scrub it off next wash. maybe pick up an automotive paint marker, maybe not bother. heh.
