Default Cheesy or no?

I think I found a place to pick up a ford accessories ground effects package....primed. Since I have to paint it anyway, I wonder if it is cheesy or not to paint the rear lip part black half black, in the same pattern as the actual rear diffusers on the SVT and SAP bumpers (rear lip below)

thoughts?

I don't think you're going to get the look you're hoping for. It's a nice thought, but however you paint it it's not going to look like an actual diffuser and I think it'll come out a little cheesy, yeah :-\

Yes. Its very Kraft Mac and Cheessy.

You could paint that middle section black tho. That would look good.

That was my next thought....beyond just leaving the entire thing silver.

I thought about doing something like that with mine, but decided it would probably not work out.

If nothing else, I might do a flat black vinyl insert in that rear indent... but after having it around for almost a year, I rather prefer it as-is.

Of course... my car is black, so the actual outcome would be drastically different than silver.

Photoshop the back of Mr. Blue's car, and you can see where it gets you.

No no , it wont look bad. 2000-2001? Foci had flat black lower sections anyway.

Only thing is that it will not show the contours of the lip kit as well as if it was CD silver.

I painted my entire kit (not just the rear) black. I then cut out the recess in the rear piece and attached mesh that I painted Autumn Orange to match the body. I could probably take some photos and post them if you'd like.

Since I still have the black bodyside moldings, the black theme on this kit works very well.

But I think he wants to paint a black section, similar to look like a SVt diffuser back there...maybe I misunderstood it?

Good chop, but o2_designs is right, I was trying to emulate the SVT/SAP diffuser look....in theory.

Damn, I need to learn how to properly photochop things, lol. Plus, I'm at work so I couldn't even try at the moment.

Hmmm, my suspicions confirmed....do not like. Tweaking the details might help though, like making it rounded and angled toward the center or something.

I do kinda like the second one though.

Nice chops

I like that. I think I would do the mesh black, or just do black on the part itself without cutting it out.

I originally went with matching the body color, then after a year or so just for grins I tried painting it black. But after a few months of that I ultimately went back to body color. Of course it's all a matter of personal preference. Thank you for your input.

well... all things considered... if your just wanting that svt diffuser look to the rear of the car... and your gonna be painting the kit anyways... why not just find a used svt bumper and paint it to match?

Would love to.....but SVT rears dont fit sedans

Oh, and if I had more cash to spend, I would just get the F2 rear and be done with it!

never heard that before... i thought all the body panels were interchangeable....

what about a rear conversion from one of the newer "st" style sedans?

Thats another option, but alot of part sourcing. I think that would take more money than both the SVT or F2 rears.

Ultimately, I will probably just wait it out till I have more cash....but the 1st gen focus is a dying breed. By the time I have more money to throw around it will be time for a 2011
