Whats the Deal with the Foci's Horn? - Focaljet

So today I was speeding by (going 80km/h in a 60km/h) and some rich dude in a Jag doesnt look left and makes a right turn right into my lane. There was about 3 seconds in between us! Luckily the ZX3 is one of the lightest cars in its class, and I was able to stop just before smoking this idiot. I started chasing him, but he ran a red light and escaped me (i guess he didnt care, he was driving with dealer plates)...

ANYWAY! The reason I am starting this thread is because I was honking at this ****, and he didn't even know i was behind him!! I really need a better horn.

Now I was looking at an earlier post, and one of the best place to find horns is http://www.jcwhitney.com but i am not sure what horn would be the easiest to replace the existing horn.

Is it electric, or is it air pressured? <-- a major debate

I am also unaware of where the horn is mounted. From my personal research, I hear it is under the front drivers side bumper and looks like a black snail (LOL). But yea, I know what the horn looks like, but where the hell is it!

One last thing. Is this an easy replacement? I'm a newbie when it comes to cars

(yea, this is my first car, and it took me 18 years to save up for it)

i was thinking of swapping them for some crown vic horns. but im not sure if they are a dirrect fit.

So what did you plan on doing if you caught up to him??? With all of the whackos out there nowadays, you may be better off this way.

really if it had d plates on it and someone was screaming down the highway in it, chances are he is not a 'rich dude' and is a juiced up salesman taking the thing for a rip.

You should be able to plug them in. I did it but had to "adapt" the mounting bracket so I could fit the assembly onto the lower rad support. Some washers acting as spacers did the trick.

I had a Wolo Bad Boy on my last Focus, in addition to the stock horn:

Wow lol i never use the horn... I hate it when people are always honking there horn.. but in your case it was absolutley nessasary so i understand but lol for those people like my sister who is always honking at everything i get so annoyed... (sorry for the side note)

^^I was a lot like you until I moved to downtown Chicago, where it is absolutely essential to have a horn that can be heard and will be paid attention to. Cab drivers and totally inattentive SUV drivers FTL.

I have super hellatones in my subaru, without the relay, they are loud as ****. With the relay, I believe it's a train horn. Without the relay it's more of a humming but high pitched and annoying!!

I agree that the stock horn is pretty lame. I picked up a set of Fiamms at Crappy Tire:

They work well, are sufficiently loud, and have a very nice European tone

. And the price is right.

I mounted them in the stock horn location, and used a relay that I tapped into the stock wiring. Try to mount them as high as possible, to keep water out of them. I had a problem with that.

I just installed an OOOGAAA horn in my ride. Its freaking loud, and when the factory alarm is activated is sounds like a submarine diving. It gets the attension you are looking for.
