Default Need some help w/ Black Halo headlights for 07

Hey guys.

I recently ordered a pair of the black halo headlights for my 2007 Ford Focus. I got them in a few days ago but haven't put them in yet because the instructions are extremely vague. Can anyone help me out and give me a step by step on swapping these in? All I need help in is removing the old headlights, splicing the wires for the halos into my parking light wires (which ones are they?), and putting them back in (although I'd just reverse the directions on how to remove them).

I know it's extremely newbie of me to ask this but I really wanted to ask you guys here before I do something wrong. I've had two years of Auto Tech experience but this thing is my baby and if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it right.

HUGE thanks to anyone that helps.

i got those headlights for my 05' and as far as putting them in, that's easy. Just pull out your stockers and these go right in place, it's just plug and play for the lights hook up. Real easy, and they just bolt into the same stock spots. the halo's are another matter. i had my buddy do that , i don't touch electrical stuff like that.

For the electrical, all I need to know is which wires I need to splice into. The two wires on the new headlights are supposed to splice into the "Parking Light" postive/negative wires but without knowing which they are, it's kinda hard.

This might help, as it has some of the wire colors listed.

Won't this cause the halo to blink when the turnsignal is going? The factory parking lights turn on, and then blink in conjunction with the side marker light when the turnsignal is on.

From what I can tell, since there's different wires for the turn signals and the parking lights, it shouldn't. Well, at least I hope not. I'll give this a try this afternoon. Any more info is appreciated before then.

It was kinda late when I posted that, forgot the fronts were dual element bulbs. I just looked at my 07, and the pass. side colors are correct (the driver's side is kinda hard to see).

I just took a look at mine as far as I can see none of them are right which is really strange. I agree, the driver's side I won't know until I pull them out. Which plug will contain the parking light wiring, the black one or the red one? Could I call a Ford Dealer or an AutoZone to get them to tell me which is which?

Unfortunately, looks like no install today since I still don't know which wires to splice and it's raining out. Tomorrow is a bust too since the 'rents are coming up and helping me move into my new apartment and then I have work at 3. Hell, even Sunday is out since I work 11-7. MIGHT be able to get them in Sunday night or Monday afternoon.

They look really cool although I had to take one apart because it came with a wire stuck over the projector light. Was really weird too because the lights came with a receipt from some other guy dating back to Jan. 15th, 2008.

I just have a direct wire to the battery, with a fuse in the middle, so it's on all the time at the moment unless i pull out the fuse. That's not my final setup. I am going to run a switch for mine into my car so i can just turn it on and off when i want. I never thought of wiring the halos to my parking lights, not a bad idea though

Yea, the instructions say to do it by routing it into the parking light wiring but then your orange lights are on with the halos too, which is kinda weird. Oh well.

Any idea which wire I should splice in, rbrommel or at least which plug?

Use a multimeter, and test by: turning on the parklights and hazzard lights. Then test for ground continuety to the chasis, once you find the ground, work on the other 2. One will be pulsing, and one will be constant. And if you only want the halos on with the parklights, without the small bulb, cut the factory wire, only leaving the turnsignal curcuit intact.

im gonna be doing this soon too, so, basiclly, cut the parking light wire, hook the halos up to that, leave the turn signal one intact?

Yea, it sounds like you'd cut the parking light wire so it doesn't go to the plug anymore. Splice the positive halo wire to the parking light wire (as well as splicing it into the ground) and then the halos will come on, NOT the turn signal. Also, like he said, the turn signal wire is left untouched.

I might just do that...

Now to figure which one the parking light wire is...

that sounds like the only way i could think of to get it to work... besides running a direct line to a power source and ground with a fuse and a switch.

with the multimeter: turn park lights on, and hazzard switch...

12volts pulsing = turnsignal

12volts constant = parklight

$260.

Don't have a multimeter available. If necessary, I'll go pick up a cheap one because I'm sick and tired of waiting. I want to get these in, especially to verify they work 100%.

After all this is done, I'm making a new instructions sheet for these things for the company to use instead of the "Positive to Parking Light, Negative to Ground" instructions that are half in Chinese. Anyone who helped me out, let me know if you want your name on the sheet with mine!

I'm on my way to Katy, and I have mine installed already. I will show you a pic, or tell you which wire to plug it into in order for them to come on when I get back. But for now, this is how I believe they go. The black wire is the ground wire, so that will plug into the other black wire on the SIDE MARKERS or if there is a ground marker on the inside of the regular blinker that will work too, BLACK GOES TO BLACK!! IIRC, the red wire from the adapter will go on the orange wire, there should be three left: green, blue/red and orange. It goes to the orange one, if the orange has a dual color, it goes on that one.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. I'll take a look tomorrow but a picture and a verified description would be awesome!

What's the process for taking out the headlights? Are the only things holding them in the two screws on the top or are there others I cannot see. I took out the top two screws and still wouldn't budge much.

Sorry for the double post, just wanted to throw in an update.

I had the headlights installed this morning, simply because I was sick of waiting around and didn't want my return policy to end. They got the headlights installed in about an hour only to find that one of the halos in the right lamp was not working. Pretty pissed, but nothing I could do at the shop so I drove home.

I walked into my apartment to grab a camera (to take a picture for the seller as proof that it wasn't working) and a screwdriver to open the lamps and see if a wire was loose. Turn the headlights on and magically it's working now. Awesome. I check to make they wired the lamps correctly. Fail. Although I repeated stated, WIRE THEM INTO THE PARKING LIGHTS, my halos were now blinking with my turn signals.

Go back to the shop and get them fixed. Pretty pumped, really happy. They look SICK (I nearly died when I saw how they looked at night). HOWEVER, the visibility with these things are HORRIBLE. I've never felt so unsafe in my life. Hi-Beams are fine but under normal use, I can only see about 10 ft. in front of me with NO light directly in front of me. When I park behind a car at a stoplight, there's not even a glare from the lights.

Looks = 10
Functionality = -10
