Anyone know what a ZX3 hatch would cost ( the back door itself )

In short....satellite antennas and hatches don't mix...

mine somehow 'fell' into the crack unbeknownst to me and when trying to close the hatch after a car wash I hear a loud pop and all I know is now the metal is bent to crap and the piece doesn't look repairable...

So....I need to know what a new piece would cost....anyone know?

Didn't Derrick replace his, you know when he was switching to all those euro parts. Maybe he still his old one lying around???

There's nothing Euro about a rear hatch... so I'd hope he wouldn't replace his hatch with a Euro one.

You're going to get varying prices on hatches at junkyards. I'd definitely had out to the local chop shop and start poking around.

satellite antenna is not that thin to fell into..
or did you take out before the car goes into "touchless car wash thing"??
and tried to close hatch and hatch got bent??

were your antenna mounted like this??




if it is, then i suggest put double sided tape..went through car wash and never had any problem..

It is thin enough...mine is about half as thick as yours. It was mounted on the roof, not the tail gate, and in the center....

Talked to a body shop, they say it can be fixed.....

From Ford I think I heard it is around $600, but you can find them in your local junkyard in good shape for $200-$400. You just might have to get it painted which adds another $100 to the total cost. Still probably cheaper then going to Ford though.

Have you got a quote on how much it would cost to repair your current hatch? I would think that it would be your cheapest route rather then buying another one unless you can find a heck of a deal on one that is the same color as your car.

when i had to replace my hatch. it was 500$ for a perfect hatch with glass. dont mess with pulling the glass! it will just cause you headaches and ALOT OF money if you have a shop swap glass.

just get a whole hatch with the glass.

Here in SoCal at a few of the pull-it-yourself type salvage yards there's been some Focus hatches and sedans popping up in the last couple years. Off the top of my head I think the full rear hatches are around $40 (if you can find one and then add paint costs on top of that unless you get really lucky). Most of the private yards out there are going to be a lot more expensive but you'd have a better chance finding a nice one and maybe even the same color. The newer cars that hits the self-serve yards usually aren't in the best of shape. You can also try this link to search a nation-wide database of junkyards to see if there's something in your area.
