Default Rear bumper warning sensors?

Has anyone ever added this to their focus? Weren't these available for European models at some point? Do you think it's possible to add them from another Ford vehicle?

Probably, but it might be kind of hard to add it from another Ford. I know in my parents' Expedition it's intertwined with the car's ecu. But all it really would take is the sensors, some sort of computer-thing to turn the system on and monitor/calculate the distance the car is from the object and alert accordingly, and a speaker. Hell, you might even be able to wire it into the door-open chimer if you can find it lol.

But my only question is why? The Focus isn't a very big car and is easy to see out of, and I think those sensors are fugly. Plus your car is beautiful and having them, I think, would detract from the car immensely.

There are aftermarket kits that work great.
I had a set in my wife's mini-van and it saved our bumper and our kid's bike's many a time.
I thought about a front set too to spare my Roush bumper from bitting the curb when less than careful people drive it.

You can buy a back up camera that has a proximity sensor with it as well.

My dad has one for his Expedition to assist in hooking up his enclosed car trailer when he's alone. He said it was one of the best investments he's made in his tow rig.

Backup camera's a nice idea. Might be kinda outta proportion on a Focus, though.

What's the point? It's like driving a golf cart.

  • Parking aid
  • Because of that one time you don't look behind your car and the kids left their big wheel in the driveway....
  • Or even when that little toddler breaks away from Mom or Dad and runs off in the parking lot behind you.
It's a nice safety device.

Kids should be locked in a closet. Mine are and they're 12 and 9. I thought everyone knew that.
