I am totally pleased with this product, I suggest even if you don't want to modify your Focus much, you NEED one of these. The throttle response is killer and the sound is at least 10x improved. Installation is a breeze with simple socket set and the installation instructions were very vivid. I'm absolutely grateful for every penny and dime I spent on the new intake
The only bump in the road I came across was the predrilled MAF sensor holes were a little off which I have the resources to fix, but till then a little electrical tape will work I suppose

Put one in a couple weeks ago myself...took about 45 minutes start to end and the hardest part is wrestling the oem airbox out of the bottom of the car. 40 minutes removing the factory setup, 5 minutes to install the fs werks.
FS Werks unit really smoothed and increased throttle response...power gains? Probably but not exactly sure about using my butt dyno as a measuring tool. ![]() Not that concerned about the filter getting immersed in water because it 1) hardly rains here in LA 2) is shielded quite well by the factory undertray to where if you do completely submerse it, you have worse problems to worry about... Makes a sweet sound too on throttle and based on my calculations from the last 5 fillups, my overall fuel economy went up ~2 mpg...highly recommended. |

I had the prototype one put on my '09 by Vik and it is an awesome intake. I've not had any issues with it at all. I just added my custom 2.5" catback exhaust with resonator and after resetting the ECU, all I can say is that the intake and the exhaust fit together perfectly and the sound is pure nirvana! Thanks again to FSWerks for a great piece!

OK,
I really think this is a quality component. But...... When I installed this CAI on my '09 Focus SES, this past weekend, it installed fine, except where it says on Figure 10 to install the rubber grommet, replace the last hose - on the underside of the intake pipe between the downbend and throttle body ('08-'09 models) - I ran into a potentially serious issue. I need some help here. The grooved rubber grommet fit the small hole well, but when I inserted the plastic tube into the grommet, it dislosged, into the Air intake piping and I saved it once (fortunately it fell down the bend to the air filter). So I attempted to redo it yesterday and couldn't get both the grommet to stay in the air intake pipe hole with the supplied plastic tube inserted. So, instead I put the rubber grommet over the plastic tube's edged lip, back into the intake pipe hole, but when I cheked today the grommet either GOT SUCKED INTO THE THROTTLE BODY OR back down to the air filter down the bend again. Car still starts, for now, so if it got sucked in it's not causing damage (yet). But, I can't check until after work tomorrow, but just in case.... IF THE RUBBER GROMMET GOT SUCKED PAST THE THROTTLE BODY, how much of the upper intake system of my new Focus am I looking at undoing this weekend (if i didn't get lucky and it fell back down the bend to the air filter)??? Before dark tonight, I pulled the air intake out and shook it, the grommet did not fall out, but will undo it this weekend first to double check. Help, please. JF |

Okay,
Replacement grommet installed, properly... I guess I needed to use the slightest bit of motor oil on the plastic tube (at the lip-edge) get it past the grommet without popping it out of the air intake pipe. My concern still remains, after speaking to the TECH at Focus Sport Werks (FSWERKS), he said either the grommet will be in my intake manifold and stay there or it will hit the engine and burn up?! IF it does hit the engine and burn up, with my '09 Focus SES what kind of residual damage (if any) am I looking at? Again, any help or peace of mind would be good. Thanks, John |

And yet again, I foudn out some several reliable sources the small grommet has already been burned up and emitted as carbon... So all in all I really like the new CAI and the duratec tone is very pleasing and I suggest a hydro shield to keep the ITG filter from getting wet.
