Default To the 5 or 6 that left with me at ~4pm

Some kudos and thanks:

Don't know exactly who you are, but you're all classy mofer's in my book.

Backstory:

On the way back home via the 101 South there were 4 or so of us driving together, and at one certain point a Scion decided he wanted to play around on the freeway. I had fallen back a few cars from the group and he pulled up aside me and started revving. I waved him by and he seemed to back off, but when I went to pass the two cars between me and the rest of the group he assumed I was taking up his offer. He started driving like a real asshat, cutting people off, sweeping across lanes, jumping into the middle of the line of Foci, cutting it so close I thought he was going to hit one of you or run someone off the road. During this time a Cobalt full of people decided to start racing around too, so at that point the four or five of us had two cars swarming around being dicks. The Cobalt almost hit me twice trying to cut around to catch the tC, only to slam on his brakes in front of me.

The kudos:
Everyone maintained their cool. No one went off lone-wolf-style trying to race, and no one pulled any crazy moves in retaliation, despite the two jackasses swerving all over the place and riding our bumpers. Had one of us lost it and decided to join in with them, it could have been dangerous to ourselves and many others on the very busy freeway that day. Eventually they got themselves blocked behind some slower cars and left us alone...thankfully.

At any rate, you know who you are, and you know the situation too, I just wanted to thank whoever it was I happened to be driving with and pass on the story. (Blue Sedan I met in Camarillo who was from Washington, Black 05, Sangria 05 with SVT Rear, Orange SVT and Blue SVT) You're all cool as hell in my book.

I wasnt gunna mess with him but he started gittin real aggressive so i HAD to put him in his place. Gotta love that Header top end speed. But nice meeting you dude. Stay in touch.

I didn't see anyone running anybody...perhaps it happened when I was trying to get out of the way of the Cobalt. I guess I might have been a little mistaken.

The road is no place to try to give driving lessons to strangers.

I'm afraid that what was an original post of a thread that was so full of promise has been degraded to a "kill story" which, along with your earlier swear filter bypass in another thread are against [FJ] guidelines.

You fail.

Sincerely,

"Geek"Jet.

Well, it started off sounding like a great story....

Eitherway, hopefully the Scion TC driver and the Cobalt driver won't kill themselves or anyone in the future. Hopefully they'll grow up sooner or later.

I know too many Scion drivers that are complete morons behind the wheel.

Now I'm a bit bummed. I fell back a bit trying to give the Cobalt the idea that I didn't have any interest in racing him, and I must have missed a bit of what was going on at that point. Damned shame. I guess I'm just a big geek too...for some reason I frown upon racing through tightly packed 3-lane traffic. (Hell...I think street racing in general is dumb as hell...call me old-fashioned) Sorry I brought the story up.

This is the reason (as I discussed with Z63R yesterday) I don't usually drive with people I don't know. Had I known that side of the story I wouldn't have brought it up. Had I known you were that kind of driver I would have pulled off a while before that to put some space between us.

Either way, your original post in this thread was your perspective at the time, and good things are always worth mentioning. What you can't see on the other hand is beyond your control... Your story still stands in my book.

Oh, no one's mad, but your post makes you look bad.

Just a heads up. Check the [FJ] Guidelines; if you don't think you can adhere to them, then you're free to post elsewhere.

No apology necessary...I guess I just misunderstood the situation. If the mods decide this thread needs editing, please just delete the whole thing...it's a pretty pointless story now.

You're the one who brought up something which is illegal, very dangerous, and VERY much against FJ guidelines. So yes, it does make you look bad.

Chalz, thank you for keeping your cool and ignoring the douche-canoes. I'd be lying if I said I had never done anything crazy when someone drove like that around me, but I've grown a couple brain cells and realized how stupid it it. I pretty much drive like a grandma now. If I wanna get crazy, I come home and play rFactor with my G25 steering wheel. At least there if I crash, all it takes is a reset button to make it all go away.

After a $1300 ticket and 30 license suspension 5 years ago I learned that it is much cheaper (and safer) to get my jollies off on the track. Perhaps had I the influence of [FJ] "geeks" back then I wouldn't have needed to learn the lesson the hard way. Thank God I didn't take anyone else out with that lesson. I can only hope that others are fortunate enough to use my situation as an example and a warning before they put themselves in the situation I was in...or worse. After seeing a coworker in traction from getting hit at a stoplight by a Civic racing in excess of 100mph I have no respect whatsoever for street racers no matter how talented they believe themselves to be behind the wheel. I'm sure the guy who took a fatal blow from a B16a to the chest that night was an awesome driver.

QFT! Just let these people be.... I can't even begin to tell you how many times I get challenged in the Mustang. Alot of people just don't understand that going from 0-100 in about the time it takes more cars to reach 50-60 can get very dangerous.... Especially on the street.

Anyways keep it safe.

When we made finally made it onto the 101 South, it was packed and there was this idiot in a newer Rav4 that cut me and a bunch of others off and nearly rear-ended a motorhome. What was sweet is when he boxed himself in and most everyone he had cut off just cruised on by him with the flow of traffic. You just have to drive smart and defensive to survive those that suddenly have a 'rectal-cranial inversion'.
