Okay, reason for this thread? For my trip to FOTB, I kept track of my gas mileage along the way, writing down price, mileage, and number of gallons. Once I got home I plugged it into a spreadsheet and this is what I got:
![]() Now, for the trip from Claremore to Phoenix, my CEL was on the entire way as I have a bad front O2 sensor. Plus ffrom Goleta to Kingman my CEL came back on as well. For the trip I was averaging between 75-80mph the entire time. So, for 3236 miles I got an average of 32.07 mpg with a bad O2 sensor and not exactly going "slow" in a car with 127K miles. Damn I LOVE my Focus! Picture taken by 02AllBlackSVT through his windshield on his iPhone on the way out to FOTB.

Check out that 38mpg from Flagstaff to Phoenix!
![]() Gotta love dropping 5000 feet in elevation within 120 miles.

Why? I was talking to Christie on the phone trying to get the address of the Sonic in Phoenix where we were going to meet the Dez crew, and then trying to program that into my GPS.
I needed 4 hands.

Oh.....oops.
![]() I thought you were asking why I was going so slow to get that good of a MPG. Apparently the Dez guys like to take that route quite "briskly" since it's twisty and all downhill.

That is great Jason. I only got 26mpg when I actually figured it out, and that was when I was drafting the Dez crew back home. I have no idea what I got on the way out.
I am glad you were able to make it down to our place, after spending $400 for gas saving a couple of bucks on hotels didn't hurt. You guys are welcome any time.

Thanks again Todd for the hospitality on the way out there.
The good thing is that on the way back home we got a hotel in Gallup for $37.99. After taxes it was about $20 a person, so that was a nice savings from the $122 a night in Goleta.

That's as hi-res as it gets. Andrew took that on his iPhone and it was at 600x800:
![]() I had to crop out his dash to get the other image.

Still, it looks great. I seriously need to photoshop my car in that scene.

I managed 30mpg with my car when it was in open loop, driving up through mountain passes in NH and Maine. All hail foci!

2500 miles, and I could've done it all over again starting the next day. The Focus is such the perfect mix of canyon-twisty-stickiness and highway comfort that it's almost astonishing. Quote:
