Default possible alternative to FOTB... West Coast Worthersee 8/15-16/09

saw this on a few other euro sites i'm on figured i'd pass it along. i'll be there for sunday w/ my GTI. not gonna make the 40min drive up on saturday to drive around some roads i'd rather drive alone without 50 cars in front of or behind me.

you can probably register your focus in the other euro category if you're showing. can get your own class if theres enough of you.

On Wednesday, May 13th, the City of Buellton Chamber of Commerce unanimously passed a resolution stating their support of the first West Coast Worthersee, a European car enthusiast event to be held August 15th and 16th in and around the city, culminating with a car show located on the center median of the Avenue of the Flags (formerly Highway 101).

Yeah, you read that right... West Coast Worthersee is COMING and we're doing it with the full backing of the city of Buellton! They've even gone as far as passing a small budget This event is going to be unlike any others and gives a great opportunity and location for the Northern California and Southern California european car enthusiast community to come together...

Feel free to check out our primitive website at http://www.WestCoastWorthersee.com

Hmm we might have to have a rep talk to them to work out the details for us. I'd be down for that if we can get a focus catagory.

It's there. Click on registration and then there is a pulldown menu and at the bottom it says "other".

I apologize on the O.P.'s behalf, but this is a euro-only show... It is 100% free to spectate so feel free to come up and enjoy the festivities, though!

Well, isn't that a fine how-do-you-do.

Ford of Europe created the Ford Focus as it is sold in both Europe and North America... just as VW has done with the Golf.

Now don't get your panties in a bunch, Squier. Not everyone is as open to other makes n models as us FocalDorks. The Dub bunch is a very different demographic. Kinda like hardcore Mustang guys

Besides, we all know how much fun it is to show a car
(guess I'm over all that, been to way too many shows in my day)

We plan on getting there early, riding the Tour of CA TT route, meandering through the show and drooling over der Poke n Stretch, and then heading home.

Z63R, I apologize for the mix-up... It is made very clear throughout the website that this is a European-make show.

hotrod, excited to have you out!

It is indeed far too late to change the ignorant perception held by far too many 'car' people that the Focus is strictly an American car. It is not.

Quote:

That's just it: The Focus is a European Ford!

As for showing a car, yes; it can be a headache when one has done it for years... so now I won't have to obsess on how clean the car is and who might lean on it with their greasy mitts.

I do think that I'd enjoy a walkabout up there, looking at all that delicious veedubbery, though!

Yes, but the car doesn't come here from Europe. It's made in Mexico/Detroit. We actually were sending sedans and wagons TO Europe.

Car shows are boring. I don't mind greasy mitts on my car, but after an hour or so and I've walked the show, I'm ready to go ride bikes or something lawlz

Focus = Ford
Ford = American
Volkswagen = German

No matter how technical you get, those facts remain true... But like I said, you all are MORE than welcomed to come to all aspects of the event!

Hell lets just get our own car show up and running. Don't look at me to plan it because I'm to busy, however I'll show up for it.
