Default focus challenge website

Considering that the next focus challenge event is less than a month away, I'm shocked and disapointed that the website hasn't been updated since the pahrump results. I mean, I know its hard to take care of a website and all, but with so many people involved the site shouldn't just fall to the side. Get mad at me if ya want, but I just thought that maybe mentioning something would get some results?

Well a few folks have been requesting updates for a few weeks..I hear the same complaints from a few guys that want to run, they get amped and check the sight and nothing has changed

The sight kinda is abandon it appears..David is to busy and no one else has access or the ability (in my case)

I thought the Focus Challenge thing was trying to become a genuine race series. If you are actually trying to get a real series going; get David to give you access to the site, then fire him.

A company, group, team, etc. is better off with no web site than one that hasn't been updated in six months.

Anyway, how does one find out about the Focus Challenge thing?

I share the frustration...but David is not compensated, in fact he built the sight as a favor. As one of the founders he help build the enthusiasm here on the jet. Its lots of effort and momentum just to let go

We just need someone in IT to take over. Hopefully david will join us at the track and play

and I understand this, and really wish I knew how to do this stuff so I could help, but....sigh, I'll stop. This is bordering blaming one person and I don't want to blame someone that did this for us.

Exactly. David's said for months and months now that he's been pulled into a new project at work that's consuming just about every ounce of code related energy he has and that he's more than willing to hand over the keys to someone able to run with it.

Also, its not a normal website, so just knowing HTML won't cut it. The site is virtually 100% database driven off of MS SQL and all pages are custom home-grown ASP code. I'm poking around in it a bit to see if I can figure it out, and if so I'll see about updating the page. If I can figure this out, I don't mind running the site.

Till then, bur, Nik, slidemaster, and airforce have been given admin rights to at least the front page. So feel free to update that with whatever you'd like.

Or you can get MS FrontPage and do it....It's very easy.

I've been able to keep mysite up to date all the time by using MS FrontPage. You can make easy changes very quickly.

It'd have to be rewritten to be FrontPage compatible, it isn't HTML.

I also don't believe FrontPage can do the database work either.

I "updated" the site to reflect my "new" lap times, apparently they were all too slow.

nevermind...

The schedule has been updated... but for some reason it's not showing.

I'll see if we can't get that bug worked out somehow.

We appreciate your patience.

Front page will most certainly NOT keep the database as it is. Unfortunately.

And FrontPage is NOT easy at all... Microsnot puts too much mettle in their crap and you get clunky looking webpages.

(like a carriage return generates a new paragraph... not a new line... or hitting enter creates a <p> tag instead of a <br&gt

OK Event Page updated..... The East Coast track info isn't put in the database yet, so it'll be amended....

Thanks for your understanding.

Can't we just start the page from scratch using a program people know how to use.

Sure... assuming you can integrate the complex database that determines handicaps.

If you have a better way than SQL... I'd like to hear it.

The thought had crossed my mind to make the entire driver registration manual... and take it off line entirely for ease off website administration....

But Seriously... Bela put a TON of hard work into that thing... and for the most part it works perfectly (slight tweaks here and there) so I'd hate to see it go.
