Default Focus Challenge Shenandoah Pictures

Some of the pictures I took at the Focus Challenge 8/05/06.

Camp FocalJet

The Paddock

Pregrid

Waiting at Pit-out

Entering the Pistol Grip - Yes, that is the correct line.

So that you are set up for the blind downhill exiting the Pistol Grip

Climbing the hill toward the bridge

Settling back down after the crest of the hill

Dropping in to the Karrusel

Exiting the Karrusel

Starting downhill on to the main straightl

You get to see some different cars at Shenandoah

Supercharger with no LSD means lots of inside wheel spin - sure sounded good though

The group trying to stay out of the sun BTWS (Before the wind storm)

Evidence that Penguini66 was there

Great shots as usual Hal.

See the Trogenator waiting patiently in the shade until being unleashed precisely 1 minute after the last car came off track?

It is the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point WV. It's the newest track there, only been in use for 2 years.

I think you would love the track. It has every type of corner you could imagine and very little of the track is flat. Most of it is at least slightly up or down hill with the total elevation change being around 150 feet.

The bottom of the Pistol Grip has 3 corners(some people make it 2) with the last one being blind over the hill to the left. It was interesting to hear the EVO's, etc. lifting as they went under the bridge to keep from turning their cars into airplanes.

The Karrusel is an exact duplicate of the one at the Nurinberg ring. But the series of corners from the Karrusel are the real killer. I have been there about 8 times with 4 different groups and have yet to hear anyone who was completely satisfied with their lines thru those corners. You basically have to "throw' one or two away in order to get set up for the main straight.

Yeah, Leo - it's a hoot to drive; lots of elevation changes, off-camber stuff, and 14 turns often arranged in tough sequences over 2.2 miles - leading to a 1:45-2:00 lap in a Focus, depending on state of prep. Definitely rewards good driving more than a good car.

Thanks for the pics, Hal. Got any offroad action?

all thats needed..
1) finish the front sway bar..

Main thing is to finish the sway bar...... the car will be ok to have some fun with after that.

A few more highlights...

Bri, down for the cause

And from the passenger seat of the underdamped, out of droop, 80 gazillion ft/lb Neon With Wing, this is a really scary part of the track, especially when the whole car steps sideways by about a foot --
