Perhaps Gt500 not Gt's. Ford at first indicated no support. But a few of us are a pain and they are going to help at least a little.

As well they should. This event was not only about SVT's and other Fords, but about people and the passion for safe speeding and fun. I have only been to one of these, but I really enjoyed it and am sure the next one will be just as fun.

I'm glad Mike Peters will be lead on this. He's an excellent instructor. You will certainly not be hindered at this event... ![]() ![]() All that above said, if you ever wanted to seriously get your A** handed to you by a mustang, this is the event for it. ![]() ![]() There was some VERY serious hardware running there last time.

Really is a fun deal, hope we have 15 or so Foci. We can all pit and help each other. As normal should have the trailer and air, track maps, all the normal stuff.

Get your group together, you are welcome to crash at my place (day before) and use our stuff at the track. We would LOVE to have a click from AZ here!!Heck if there is a cool event there in fall winter, get us in the loop and perhaps we can get a group from SVTOA to participate
So does anyone there have a under 2:10 in thier pocket? I hope to be running a car that shows a 1:58 if its done!

Actually, we've got a sweet on-track event planned for SVTOA AZ at Firebird International Raceway on November 24th and 24th. There's going to be driver school representation and full use of the track both days. Should be awesome. See what you guys can do...rather close to Buttonwillow I know. ![]() Quote:
God I hope so...what would that take? I've never been on Button before so I have no idea what kind of Focus could put that down. Has it been done before? |

Yep, Airforce did it at a Redline event. We got Scotty on GPS data acquisiton at 2:11. Those are pretty fast laps for a Focus. NASA did some tire testing about 1 year or so ago and with solid guys ran 2:14

A sub 2:10 for a focus is CRAZY fast! It would take an excellent driver, with at the very least a completely "gutted" focus, OR a focus with plenty of power, but the handling and light weight will pay off better dividends than the power. |

You buddy Stout can take responsability for the time. As far as the power part after the sweeper its like a 12 second drag through the "S"s. Power is worth about 1 sec ..(comparing 240hp to 170).
That same section is the biggest concern for my run in unlimited RWD in the time attack. Will have the handling to run with the best of them, but 1 to 2 seconds will seperate 1 to 3rd and I will only have about 400hp (vs some Supras with 600hp)

I'll plan on being there at least spectating. My place is definitely open for pre/post event crashing and such as well. Plenty of parking and sleeping room, and I'm in Bakersfield

don't think i will/can run my car for the event, but will 99% sure be there to check things out. learned a lot here from you focus guys, will be there for support and just to check things out too. was going to try to get one more event in on the atx before it comes out, but don't think it's gonna happen.

Do we have a cost for the challenge. Is it just the cost of timing and transponder plus what it cost to do the SVTOA weekend or 1 day and have we got which day the challenge is going to be.

The Challenge is going to be on Sunday the 5th.
I think I am going to do both Saturday and Sunday.

Frush is correct. $30 for the timer and the proce of a track day. SVTOA is paying for a timing pro from redline to keep the numbers straight. Sunday is ususally a thiner day so it would be great to have an army of Focus just take over.

I've been dying to get to a track for years now. Never made it. Always short on cash and it seems like that is the case with this upcoming challenge. I hope to make it and watch though. Any chance a spectator can get a ride even for just a lap?

No doubt! We will have a variety of vehicles with us. Plus this community always has cool guys that say hop in! Bring your helmet! 10.00 to enter the track.
There is always help needed around the track as well with the cars

I'm definitely down to help out. The helmet is one of the expenditures as to why I won't be able to join you guys "out on the track." That plus new tires and the challenge fee is just to much mullah between now and Nov. I hope to get the helmet first that way I can tag along. Any recommendations? Thanks, and I appreciate it.

We've always got extra helmets too bro...don't let that stop ya. As for rides...your welcome in mine, but I'd certainly be shooting for some laps with the master of slides.
