Default Removing Lamin-X

Okay, the front of my SVT is covered in that stupid Lamin-X film (hate it). They covered the hood and fronts of the fenders and the fronts of the side view mirrors. I want to remove it, but I don't want to damage anything by pulling it off. I don't figure that it will really harm the paint, but I was thinking about a hair dryer and just working it slowly.

Are there any good clearcoat-safe adhesive removers to get rid of the gum that is sure to get left behind?

Try using "Goo-gone".

Okay, I was tempted to try it, but didn't know if it would leave a residue or damage clear coat paint. Thanks for the advice.

There should be some type of logo imprinted in the corners of each plastic/clear section. If it does not show any- I would assume its 3-M.

Curious....
I have never seen an actual vehicle with the "clear bra" installed. Is it starting to fade? Or is it showing swirl marks/scratches?
Those clear bras aren't cheap in price due to the labor that's req'd to install them.
Maybe post a pic & take a survey of opinions from fellow members.

Those clear bras always look good in my opinion. Haven't seen one peel or yellow yet.

It's safe for clearcoats and paint. It takes quite a bit of of work to wipe goo off, though.

I honestly would get a pro to remove it.

Lamin X is SSSTTTRRROOONNNGGG. And I would worry about it ripping pain off the car. It takes alot of muscle to get it off....trust me. Maybe call them? I think you'd need to heat it up first.

Either way, it took me a good 2hrs to get the Lamin-X and associated glue goo off my headlights.

It it's just the simple 3M clear bra, it will peel off fairly easily with no damage to the paint.....

I want to remove it because it is starting to peel on the hood and fenders, and the previous owner of the car apparently liked to bump into things with the mirrors since there are blemishes, like where the plastic got stretched out a bit and shows up as a milky white. I just don't like it. I may remove and replace it, but for now the pieces that are on there are not in very good shape, in my opinion.

I'm thinking about using brillo pads, steel bristle brushes, and a butane torch.
