And Afterwards......

A little bit a cloudiness in the top of the lens but at least now i dont have to drive with my high beams on permanently. Not bad for a cheap product right.

I bought some headlight cleaner off of ebay the other day for my lights which were horribly fogged and oxidized. The product is called Ultimate Clear and it was $10 dollars plus shipping so like 15 bucks total but my lights came out great and saved me $90 a headlight for replacement, check it out.

I'll take your word for it. I'm not seeing much difference.

They also make kits with a non yellowing sponge brush apllied clear coat to protect the finished product as well.
No spray on wipe off solution will buff years of no garage off of a headlight. You got burned for 15 dollars my friend.

Yeah you could've gotten much better results than that with other products. Sand Paper + Water + Headlight Compound Polish + Elbow Grease (Or a buffer) are your friends!

This kit includes wet sand paper, polish, and i used a buffer to clean them and maybe the pics dont help but now my normal headlights are brighter than when i used to drive with my high beams on due to cloudiness. may not be perfect but it is a lot better than before.

I second the Meguiar's Plast-X. I have used it on both an old '93 Grand Am and now my 2000 Focus, and it has resuscitated what was formerly a severely pair of hazed headlights, back into a clear ,shiny set of lenses. Just make sure you work on a small section at a time, to ensure you get nice, even coverage. It may take a few applications to achieve the results you're looking for, but it will be worth it. Trust me.

Sand paper and the various compounds work best. Here is what I did.
Here is the passanger side, you can see they are rather dull and nasty looking, ![]() ![]() So I got some 1000 grit sand wet/dry sand paper to get out everything but the deep nicks, wiping down the plastic every couple of minutes and keeping the sand paper pretty wet. Next I removed the 1000 grit marks with some 1500 grit paper, using lots of water and wiping as I went. Then I went to 2000 grit, by then the light looked pretty foggy but was very smooth, and to be honest looked better foggy than it did before I started. To get out the 2000 grit marks I went up to Wal-Mart and picked up some of this stuff... ![]() I found out you need to go SLOW with back and forth motions, if you go too fast or use too much power on your drill you will make some burr marks on the plastic and then you will have to resand that section with a bit of 2000 grit and go over it again with the polish pad. This stuff is basically an attachment to an electric drill and some stick on polish pads and you will use 2 or 3 per light. I will say again during the entire process go SLOW, it took me an hour and a half to get my drivers light looking like this... ![]() ![]() ![]() I put some Lamin-X on a few days later and more than 2 years later they still look good.
