Focus ST220

I posted this in the MKII thread but I thought it would be worthy of its own thread.

I didnt have the money to buy the magazine at the time but I swear I wasnt dreaming.

I just read in the latest "Car" magazine that the ST220 Focus is gonna have a 2.5L Turbocharged engine borrowed from a volvo. It is to have 220 BHP.

Also there is speculation from the same source that there will be a 300BHP AWD RS to follow soon after the ST. And that it says for the EVO to watch out.

I just read it in the magazine if yall already knew that oh well.

Would they re-use the same number for two different cars?

They already have the ST220 Mondeo.

They had the ST200 Mondeo, the ST170 Focus and the ST150 Fiesta is coming up. I've never seen two models share the number, but it's a relatively new nomenclature.

Maybe downgrade it to 215 HP to call it the ST215 and not step on its big brother's shoes (or better yet, go for a ST240).

they'd prolly use the same nomenclature...it'd actually help the marketing gig.

Focus has big brother's engine.

Mondeo has some sport compact soul.

IF that happens.. over here in the us... id buy it... but i do have my doubts

continue to doubt...It definitely won't happen in the focus...it might happen in the Mz3

Ok to straighten facts, the future entry level sporty models in europe are called Zetec-S (no Zetec in there though), then comes the Sts, that will no longer have numbers, just Fiesta ST Focus ST, et al, then the RS (probably) Fiesta (+200hp), Focus (+260hp) and maybe even a Mondeo (the first idea was a very light and compact V10 RWD with trannie on the rear, but that is loooooooong ditched, i guess AWD and 350hp maybe a new V6 or a smallish V8 (Yamaha/Volvo 4.4??))
