Default I'm thinking about doing some low octane gas saving ECU programs

As the title says, I'm kicking it around. I'm not sure how I feel about it, though, since I don't want to hear from people who claim they aren't getting any increase in mileage. I figure I should try out a few of my ideas on some cars first just to see if I think there are any gains to be had before I get too far ahead of how to handle it.

If you are local to FocusSport and I know you on a first name basis, hit me up and we'll see about doing some tests. This will only apply to NA. This will only be for our customers that bought XCal2 flashers from us directly. If you don't have a flasher, you'll have to buy one, no exceptions.

Low octane in an SVT might not be a great idea.

I'll start logging my MPG again so I have a baseline. I've been pretty consistant at about 23mpg (near 100% LA city driving) the last year or so. Thats with an 87oct. version of the std performance tune.

a local tuner made me a low octane tune for my svt but i have yet to load it or try it since they recommend high octane fuel in it. but i figure with the adjustments to the tune it might be safe, never really wanted to try though since it would lose HP too

Dood... the compression ratio on the SVT makes running anything less than 91 unsafe. Period. You can't detune compression ratio. It is what it is. If you wanna add a thicker head gasket, you can get away with a lower octane, but not through tuning.

DO NOT under any circumstances put less than 91 in an SVT.

This will not add performance, but it shouldn't kill any either.

exactly why i never loaded the tune, i knew the higher compression was the reason it calls for 91, i always run 93 because thats what they have by me at the shell i use. but i just dont think it would be safe to use it so i havent

I'm not local, but when you get the programs worked out, let me know. I would be interested in your developments.

I'm so glad that my car is still down. Otherwise, gas would be destroying me right now, at like 118 miles to the gallon tops, plus having high octane, YIKES!

So anyone with a turbo have less gas mileage than me?
