Default About Turbo Kit

Is there anything you can do to the wastegate to make it open up sooner? I have heard of problems with the automatics that basically just spin their tires all the way through first untill they shift into second. So I was wondering if there was a cure for this?

Also, I was also thinking of buying Cosworth IM and TB for sale on forums and getting F2 Header (cosworth if I can find) and I was wondering when I buy the X-Cal if will have to pay for a custom tune?

You dont need to buy any of the items you listed. All we recommend is the Stage 1 & 2 turbo kit along with a good flowing 2.5" exhaust sytem. The turbo kit comes with a SCT X-CAL 2 along with complete tuning.

As for the wastegate we can get lower sprung units to offer less boost. However if you get stage 2 the boost is adjustable so you can go as low as ~7psi up to 11psi. Running at 7-8psi will still make awsome power and keep your transmission working longer due to less stress.

Vik, I could be wrong, but I think he was going more along the lines of a 2-stage boost controller, limiting boost in first and second and opening up in third (E-boost2)?

Either way he'll be happy with the kit

Default Re: About Turbo Kit

Ok as of right now im in the middle ground of goin N/A or Turbo. I really want to upgrade the transmission at same time if I go turbo (Plus my warranty will be running out within the next year). So I was thinking just to get IM, Header, TB, and tune for now and upgrade to SVT Brakes (Allready have FS Exhaust and CAI). And the IM, TB, and the Flasher will carry over to the turbo kit when I decide to get it. So I will only lose the money that I put into the Header. Yes I was planning on going with a 2 stage boost controller, I think 7 psi will still spin like crazy. But you never know I may just get stage 1 (I really want to fill that F2 bumper gap with a intercooler :-(), I know If I get stage 2 I will bring it up to 12psi and probably blow something (no self control) I think when I drive my dads car it doesnt see under 15psi lol. Its all in the air. I have about 3-4 grand to spend on some projects on the car. So I will be doing something.
Some Questions:
1. If I decide to order the kit It will proably be in Mid-July since I have some army training which is always fun :-(. So my question do you have a couple kits on the shelf? Because if I order Mid July I will have about a month to recieve and install before Im back in college.
2. If I go N/A route for now and purchase the X-Cal will the tune be for header and IM or will I have to purchase that seperatly.
3. If I replace all my engine and transmision mounts everybody says the idle is rough. How rough is rough? Is it like old school muscle car shake?

Thanks

You can always get stage 1 & 2 but dont get the boost controller. This will give you a more reliable setup with added torque which helps in an automatic. If you feel you cant control your need for speed just dont get the boost controller that way you cant adjust the boost past ~7-8psi.

1. Most of the time the kits are sitting on the shelf and ready to go. Sometimes we may be out of stock but for the most part there available.

2. Personally the NA route kinda stinks for an automatic especially if you are planning on running an intake manifold. There isn't enough torque going NA which is so valuable in acceleration in an automatic.

3. We dont recommend replacing all the engine mounts unless you plan on doing soem aggressive driving, racing, etc.. Most people upgrade just the lower mount.
