Default TurboSmart E-Boost2 Controller

Randy, how much are you guys selling these for and when will you be putting them on your website? I need to start sending out "anonymous email links" to my wife for Christmas ideas

Also, in terms of accuracy and reliability, how does this compare to the manual boost controller?

First off I wanted to chime in.. I love my Eboost. Accuracy.. Yes very. Reliablity.. I have a ton of miles on mine. The features and setting are top notched.
  • A specifically developed Correction Feature eliminates boost drop-off at high RPM
  • Boost levels can now be mapped against TIME or RPM
  • Special gate pressure function eliminates wastegate creep
  • Peak Hold/Max Boost Recall function monitors the boost and RPM
  • The display can be configured to KPA, Bar or PS

This is also a boost gauge correct?

Right its also a boost gauge and it can even be used as a tach.

I can't recall the price right now, but I've mentioned it before. Try searching for posts made by me about the eBoost2. Or I'll hunt around for it later, I have a few things I have to do before it gets to late in the day.

We'll try to get it on the site this week, Steve will be in so that will work out well.

When you run a boost controller like this, how far can you turn the pressure down? I know, BLASPHEMY, but we can have some nasty around here.

You can turn it all the way down so that you'd just be running on whatever your WG spring is rated at.

What is the spring rated on your kit? Is this something that can be tailored to the specific owner?

Our FocusSport WG actuator that comes with the kit is rated at about 8 psi. If you want something that is rated higher, we can sell you one for about $79.

You can use our 12-14psi WG but you need to be careful if your engine isn't built. Typically it will boost around 11-12psi minimum. I would suggest not using the boost controller at all at first by simply bypassing it, this way you will only get the pressure from the WG. Also you should take out like 4 degrees of spark global just until you verify your boost level is safe if you decide to go this route.

Check it out here...

What i was saying is, i try to set the boost to 11 or 12 PSI max, but i cant because every time i hit the gas pedal the boost spikes to 14-15 psi and then go down to 12, now i set it up so is spikes to 12PSI and then go down to 9 PSI, but i cant get over that, so basicly, i cant enjoy the 11 PSI because of the boost spike!

That isn't that uncommon to hit 11 psi and then settle to 9 psi. If you want it to hold better, you'll need an electronic boost controller such as the eBoost2.

Electronic boost controller for the win. Eboost2 brings on the boost by your senitivity setting. Brings it on and holds it right were you set it. Also has a overboost that you set as well. Say I want 11.5psi max with a over boost of 12.5 Eboost2 for the win. I think thats what I have set for mine. Its been a while. I think there has only been 1 or 2 times Iv punshed it and got it to overboost. As it flashes over-boost.. over boost. LOL.

Like I said you can use the 12-14psi WG without the MBC. Just make sure that the boost doesn't exceed 11-12psi. Thats typically the boost it would stabilize at anyway, 11-12psi.

NOTE: Also it is 100% normal for the boost to spike up to 11-12psi then drop about 2-3psi. This is not a bad or good thing, it's just how it works. If you want your boost to be more smooth than you need either a higher WG or an electronic boost controller.

Thanks,
Vik

Did you guys remove the ball/spring from inside the MBC as per Turbosmart instructions? I was having all kinds of issues until I removed it. It still spikes a little, but not NEARLY as bad as it was (1 psi vs 4+ psi).

Where is your boost signal coming from? I noticed an additional reduction in boost spike when I moved the signal line to the throttle body instead of the intake manifold (referencing boost AT the throttle body as it should be, and yet never exposed to manifold vacuum). I pulled the throttle body and drilled/tapped a small 1/8" NPT port through the plastic body right in front of the throttle plate... and screwed in a 3/16" barbed fitting.

It also helps if you put the MBC right next to the wastegate actuator with a very short piece of hose between the two.

Its MUCH better now... but I'm still getting an EBC.

Well, they didn't make it mandatory, but they said if you wanted a gentler boost curve you could. I haven't done it, and I don't have any boost spikes whatsoever. This could, however, have something to do with the remote setup I have. Who knows. Either way, I intend on getting an EBC too

Tell me something, does the EBoost2 come with the "easy button" or is that an optional piece?

No, the easy button is just something we do for our cars. Vik could probably let you know what you need, but you'd have to speak with him about it.
