Default How reliable is nitrous?

I was thinking about getting the JRSC but it looks like I can get the same power for alot less money & work with the nitrous. How reliable is this? I have the atx tranny also, will it hold up?

Just keep in mind that an SC provides real smooth power all the way where as notrous gives your motor a sudden jolt of power which is not only harder on your ATX but your moter as well. I'm not saying that nitrous isn't reliable, like anything. It depends on several factors. For me I chose the SC mainly because of it's reliability and it really makes the car fun to drive. It's been on the car now for about 15k and it's running great. Just my .02

The stock ATX won't hold up to either of them for any period of time. The clutches are to weak.

if the nitrous kit is set up correctly, than it can be reliable. However, like dan said, it is more of a jolt than steady increase in power. And I do believe nitrous is illegal to use on the street where the SC isn't and is carbed legal. Then you need to fill the nitrous whenever you plan to use it, which adds up fast. I personally would go with the SC. The only reason I used nitrous was for a short time between SC's because I wanted more power. But it was only for a few months anyway.

umm... nitrous is reliable. it gives you more power everytime you need it as long as it's hooked up properly and the bottle is adequately full.

is your engine reliable after spraying? that is a different question and depends on a multitude of things. talk to justin aka tobyboom if you are serious.

the atx should be just fine with a 50 shot or less even a 75 shot won't tear up the trany that bad just don't use it at every light you stop at instead get a rolling start then go ahead and spray away don't spray for more then 10 seconds and don't over rev the motor to the point where the fuel shuts off the key to making nitrous reliable is the fuel solution as with anything other type of power adder the more air you force into the motor the more fuel you need nitrous has a bad rap co's of some dumb rednecks blowing 350's left and right for the money you can't beat it it does how ever put more wear and tear on you botom end JUST DON'T OVER DO IT and you'll be fine if you wanna race a 4 banger on a budget nitrous is the only way to go

I have the zex kit which is one of the best kits I'm changing from my 55 shot to a 75 shot. One warning if your watching the fast and the furious and exspect it to be like that you'll be let down. Once I got over that I really like and enjoy. Its a hard pull even in top end no problem to a hundred. I'm spinning quite a bit but ran 15.0 flat at 94.5 mph on the 55.

good luck

Nitrous if very reliable. like everyone is telling you don't race lite to lite all night long. a 75 shot with a good tune will be fine on your tranny. i have a 75 shot on my 2010 with a tune on my ATX. i due recommend getting all the bells and whistles with your setup though. i went with zex kit 10lb bottle and get the purge lines. got the window switch, got the bottle heater, got the electronic bottle opener. it costs a lil more but you do have to pay to play. and if you want reliable go out and spend a lil extra cash for what you want.

MYCANNON. how do you run a 15 flat? was that because you where spinning? expect a 13.9 when you run your 75

Resurrected to argue 6 year old information.

For the record, I retract my statement from the post above.

Either will work great for some time w/ proper tune.

No. Proper trans tune through the ECM and the clutch packs will handle it much longer than originally thought.

Didn't you just install a nitrous kit and then uninstall it like a month later?

Haha. Well, if there's something to be said for impulse buys, it's that they certainly teach you something.

Looking for a little more power that's turned on all the time? Then you're in the market for boost.
