Default PowerWorks Blower -

I just got off the phone with Roger Olsen at Cosworth. The PowerWorks blower is going on sale on November 1st.

Is this good news or what? He also said he has been trying to get somebody at FJ to take one out for a test drive. I volunteered, but . . .

That is a really nice setup, but man the cost is quite high. I mean I think all said and done, it's almost 6K. I can't see to many people hopping on board. But the power looks awesome.

YA think so..? (looks in wallet, pulls tufts of lint..)

You're probably right as heck, but I think there's still some people out there willing to pay that much for the fit, finish, and name.... even if it's not the most powerful option. (myself included.)

I'm thinking same reasons people go with JRSC, with the exception of cost being a factor. Then again?

If it really makes it to the shelves, I think it will move.

6K huh? Wow. That is a lot of money. I do think that may kill the product. Time will tell.

Did the $6k figure come from Cosworth/PowerWorks or is it just somebody's guess from a thread or two back that's been quoted a time or two and somehow became "fact"?

I thought I remember hearing a price of $5200, retail. Who knows what it will end up being, though.

That's not too bad. Tom's kit is the same price!

so.... you'd take an relatively limited blower over a nice turbo setup of the same price? That would be idiotic if you were looking for power.

No, I didn't say that I prefer a blower over a nice turbo setup. I was just stating that the PowerWorks blower is that same price as Tom's kit. Look at my sig...do you really think that I would prefer a blower over Tom's kit!

Well I said "almost" 6K. I thought it was high 5's but I found my old post and MSRP is 5300.00 and that is from their mouth from the Auto Salon of this year.

But the point is exactly the point that Hocky made. Just seems like to much money for the performance gains. While excellent.. still to much money.

To be honest, price was never discussed in my conversation with Roger. We talked about availability (November 1st)

I asked about running in cold weather (I'm from Wisconsin) he laughed and said it isn't a problem

And we talked about the distribution network.

Also, Roger mentioned he has been trying to contact FocalJet (Andy in Indiana) to arrange a test drive, but he can't get anybody to call him back - doens't make sense to me.

So there you have it.

I checked out that site, bella.
The dyno sheet shows only SVT numbers.
The blower setup pictured is of the Vortec kit.
The blower advertised beside the Vortec kit is spec'ed as an eaton M62 roots set up with intercooler . . .
And the video is of something comletely different, quoted a price of $5000 and 90 hp increase . . .

They also have a typo that states "2000 lb-ft of torque". Sweet! I wonder how long the Zetec would last?

Seriously, though, I remember them stating those power and torque numbers before. For that, the price seems very high to me, but I imagine that the hardware will be of very high quality, and the reliability will also be quite good. I would hope for that price it at least has potential for significant power/torque gains with pulley changes. My Focus is making more with my modified JRSC setup (about 200 and 200 at the wheels) which cost less, even with the Snow Performance Boost Cooler.

Yes they are showing you what your zx3 will do compared to a stock SVT. I promise that car is NOT an SVT!

Wow, Corky's turbo kit is looking better every day! Intercooled GT28R for under 3 grand. Hell, maybe I should've gone for a twin-turbo setup!

On the other hand, that 2000 lb-ft is mighty tempting. With that kind of torque, I could turn my axles into giant licorice sticks.
